The Freeman Movement and England

I was doing some research into this for work (yes really) and an evil thought occured to me. At the minute when FMOTL won't enter proper pleas they're taken to have pleaded "not guilty" and a trial gets set up. But of course the "common law" remedy for someone who refuses to plead was the "peine fort et dure".
Should we be respecting their beliefs more and getting out the heavy weights? One doesn't want to be politically incorrect.
 
Dude I'm Irish, as in born and raised. Have you any idea how many times Ireland has been invaded, conquered and settled? Celts, Vikings, Normans, English seriously, get a freaking grip.

OK, now I'm posting about a paraphrased post by paraphrasing another recent post, but what the heck.

The woo-ists would be proud of "semi-literate" because it means they have a whole truckload of literate.

Not Irish meself but it pisses me off no end when people use centuries old grudges (religious or territorial) to justify violence or demonstrate why their "Teh Man!!" is evil

Looking at your avatar suddenly makes me wonder if Father Dougal is providing the legal advice for the Freedom Movement.

Firstly, I appologize for this post contributing little to the discussion. I have not yet read all of this thread (I intend to, though). I have read all 26 pages of the prevoius FOTL thread.

JREF posters, I cannot thank you enough for this forum and the threads on this topic in particular. I recently had a friend of mine bring the FOTL woo to my attention, and I have been addicted ever since. I cannot stop reading about this stuff.

It should be noted however, that I think this stuff is complete nonsense - the ultimate woo theory - and we will be seeing a lot more about it in the future as others have suggested.

The level of dedication that the true believers have to this theory is astounding, and a real case study into the human condition. LID has done a great job of pointing out just how crazy these people are. Despite numerous posts of people who have been sent to jail time and again for this, and the lack of even one post that offers evidence of success, these FOTLers believe this stuff with every ounce of their being.

Thank you for giving me 70+ pages over several threads to read the insanity of these people, it is more entertaining to me than you can possibly imagine.

Glad to hear the JREF threads are providing quality entertainment. They really are great reads, although sometimes the woos kind of lose it before they storm off the board. I also recommend the David Icke Freeman on the Land Forums - its completely run by a Freeman moderator and anyone who dares question gets threatened with a ban (including me), so its a great place to see them for who they REALLY are when they know minimal skepticism will be around.

I am sort of like you in that the sheer level of stupidity involves in FMOTL absolutely intrigues me. Reading about people practicing this stuff is literally like watching a train wreck in progress. The amount of sheer ignorance it takes for them to fall for this stuff is amazing - like you said, no matter how many people find themselves in jail or make their legal problems worse due to FMOTL they just refuse to see it for the sham it is.

I think FOTL really is well on its way to becoming a unique cult and example of insanity in the woo community. And given the wide variety of insane things we have to pick from in the woo community, that is quite the statement.

The Icke forums are where I really got started with this stuff. I also started reading some articles by a Tax Protester lawyer named Larry Becraft.

This guy blows up every argument they have about UCC, Maritime Law, the corporate status of governments, etc etc. Even he, who supports and defends tax protesters (which clearly is one of the goals of FOTL), calls these people nutjobs every chance he gets.

Thanks for converting that. I look forward to being able to actually post links some day, something these FOTLers should learn to do (specifically, links to court cases that actually support their positions). As far as I can tell, these debates seem to go like this:

FOTLer: We are under Commercial (Admiralty) Law! 4 realz!
JREFer: Ok. Proof?
FOTLer: I said 4 realz! What don't you understand?!

Pretty much. The alternative argument they often use goes as follows:

FOTLer: You do not have to obey any statute law! Only common law is real!
Me: Evidence?
FOTLer: No, see, you are just a sheeple that believes you have to obey. You do not want to be free. You are sleeping!
Me: That doesn't answer the question. Evidence?
FOTLer: SHEEPLE!
 
Quick update: I made it to page 34 and I can't take it anymore. I have, however, come to realize a few things:

1) I have made a point when reading these posts to try to avoid the idea that FOTLers, including Especially, are promoting open rebellion and anarchy, and that they are - for the most part - well intentioned. I have come to understand that this is flatly incorrect.

This Law of England he speaks of - which is clearly imaginary - provides for no recourse to those that disobey it. The refusal to answer the simple question posed - "What recourse do you have if you are imprisoned even though you have refused the jurisdiction of the court?" - shows that the answer can only be 'He who has the bigger gun...' A world that operates in this fashion can only be defined as anarchy, and is the antithesis of a civilized society.

2) FOTLers clearly do not understand the terms "Consent of the governed" and "sovereignty." Nor do they understand what they mean when they refer to common law. They are pointed to uncountable references to the actual meaning of these terms, containing the words of the people who proposed these very ideas in the first place, and counter with links to youtube videos.

I am astounded not only by the ignorance of the proponents of these theories, but also by the patience of the JREFers who have tried to hold a reasoned debate with them. If not for JREFers giving me hope that humanity can advance based on the ideals of reason and logic, the FOTLers would have caused me to lose hope that those ideals could one day be realized.

Keep up the good work, and don't give up. These people do not deserve our ridicule or pity. They deserve to be exposed to the reason and logic that destroys their misguided views of the world, in the hopes that the shaming they receive will cause them to wake up to reality. Perhaps someday this nonsense - and anything resembling it - will be quashed and humanity can progress in a sane, logical fashion.
