A facebook friend recently shared a link from the FFAF that said, "If there was no God, there'd be no reason to be an atheist." I didn't reply because he's an old guy with a heart condition and I didn't want to start a anything ugly. He occasionally posts things about Jesus and I just ignore them because he has a right to his own beliefs.

Anyway, I followed the link and found a mix of hate and insecurity. Apparently these people aren't comfortable enough with their own message. They feel the need to tear down atheism. They claim to be an inter-faith group but I suspect the majority of them also use such tactics against Islam when not attacking Atheism.

I guess the FFRF has had more success than I've been crediting it for, if they've already merited an evil clone organization.

I find the name amusing: Freedom from the Lack of Religion. Does that mean that belief in any religion would be okay? Zeus worship?

I would invent a new religion, claim to be being downtrodden by the state, and then ask to be included as one of the religions they should support. Send them a long diatribe about how awful the state is to this religion, and how wonderful it is they are helping other religions to hold their heads up high in public. Ask for website and Facebook space, their assistance and words of support. Also ask for money to "fight the good fight". Doesn't matter what the beliefs of this new religion are, just as long as the main claim is they are being suppressed. Especially don't mention Thor, Zeus, any monkey gods, Horus or the Spaghetti Monster (may you be touched by his noodly appendage).

Then if money and support flows in, lather rinse repeat with another new religion. And get your friends to join in on it too! But do it slowly, don't overwhelm them. The game will be to see how many new religions they will support. With luck it will be dozens.

But at the first rejection, blast their Facebook pages with posts of outrage that they are being unsupportive, discriminatory and exclusionary, just like they say the New Atheists are.

"Militant atheists have a desire to propagate the doctrine, and differ from moderate atheists because they hold religion to be harmful."

So if I think that religion is harmful I become a militant atheist? And suddenly need to be associated with those ridiculous pictures of burning places of worship?

Is it just me that feels utterly sick to the stomach that sites like this, which apparently have near on half a million 'likes', are propagating the sort of stuff one can find in the 'apologetics' section in resources?

Links with titles such as "Atheism, not religion, is the real force behind the mass murders of history"

And... "Are atheists mentally ill?"

Meh

"Militant atheists have a desire to propagate the doctrine, and differ from moderate atheists because they hold religion to be harmful."

Militant church members have a desire to propagate the doctrine, and differ from moderate church members because they hold atheism to be harmful.

Sounds like there are a lot more militant church members than militant atheists.

I hope to be just a moderate, tame, domesticated atheist. Sort of quiet and uncomplaining, I guess. Actually, I would be one if the predominant religions in the USA were the same.

I'm pretty sure Jesus himself -- the loving, compassionate, omni-benevolent and forgiving Prince of Peace -- would like nothing better than to crush the atheist scourge under his jackbooted heel.

I don't like those people. I don't want them on the atheist team. I guess that makes me an atheist who is pro religion.

You'll all be happy to learn I've created The Freedom From The Freedom From Atheism Foundation Foundation. If somebody will just create The Freedom From The Freedom From The Freedom From Atheism Foundation Foundation Foundation, all my hard work will not have been in vain.

While we are busy fending off allegations of being "scary nasty totalitarian fundamentalist atheists" hurled at us by self-admitted reformed hateful "fundamentalist atheists" this stuff is going on:

Vision America's Rick Scarborough was a guest on Gordon Klingenschmitt's "Pray In Jesus Name" program recently, where he explained that God is blessing the state of Texas because "Christians have infiltrated" and taken over the state GOP. Scarborough was discussing his efforts to mobilize right-wing pastors to get involved in politics across the nation and noting that he has had a great deal of success in Texas; so much so that if one now attends an annual Republican Party convention in Texas, it feels as if one is attending a revival meeting.

There are many books about the insidious DOMINIONISM movement but I found this book in particular is extremely useful in that it references numerous other books and resources relating to the topic.

This is serious stuff that is going on right now.

While we argue on forums whether calling them nutters is polite or not they are pressing on quietly with their strategic plans.

From Here

The George Grant quote cited below comes from a book he published in 1987 with Dominion Press, entitled The Changing of the Guard. Yes, they have been aiming for this for a very long time. And for a very long time they have worked under the cover of our ignorance. Who could have predicted a few nut cases could ever acquire such influence in our politics and our military? (No apologies to Condoleeza Rice).
“Christians have an obligation, a mandate, a commission, a holy responsibility to reclaim the land for Jesus Christ-to have dominion in the civil structures, just as in every other aspect of life and godliness.
But it is dominion that we are after. Not just a voice.

It is dominion we are after. Not just influence.

It is dominion we are after. Not just equal time.
It is dominion we are after.

World conquest. That’s what Christ has commissioned us to accomplish. We must win the world with the power of the Gospel. And we must never settle for anything less.

If Jesus Christ is indeed Lord, as the Bible says, and if our commission is to bring the land into subjection to His Lordship, as the Bible says, then all our activities, all our witnessing, all our preaching, all our craftsmanship, all our stewardship, and all our political action will aim at nothing short of that sacred purpose.

Thus, Christian politics has as its primary intent the conquest of the land – of men, families, institutions, bureaucracies, courts, and governments for the Kingdom of Christ. It is to reinstitute the authority of God’s Word as supreme over all judgments, over all legislation, over all declarations, constitutions, and confederations.”

Look at this nutter who was just recently elected for the Colorado state legislative house which is the equivalent of the USA congress for the state of Colorado.... this guy now gets to propose and vote on laws in the state of Colorado.

And this one

And this one

No. Any religion other than conservative Christianity is, by their definition, atheism.

For some, atheism is merely shorthand for a-Jesus-ism. That's why it is OK to call B. Obama an atheist Muslim.

..........
Dominionism quote:
“Christians have an obligation, a mandate, a commission, a holy responsibility to reclaim the land for Jesus Christ..."

Reclaim?

Doesn't that imply that not only was the US once claimed by Jesus, but also somehow Jesus lost His claim on the US?
