I just thought I'd get a jump start on the inevitable, that's all.
 
Based on some of the stuff I've seen leading up to the election it's not out of the question that this thread could wind up in "news" rather than "conspiracies."
 
Contrary to the Brennan Center for Justice report on Voter fraud (in a nutshell - not enough prosecutions for the crime, ipso facto, it isn't a problem) I suspect that both parties engage in voter fraud as a matter of course.

It happens but its generally not a intentional plot (as the CTs think it is), most "voter fraud" is really mass incompetence on the part of poll workers or outdated/antiquated voting system problems.

The CTs are going to go particularly nuts here because Obama is almost guaranteed to win - I am willing to state it before the election even occurs. Thats not a political statement, its what the data say: Obama has about a 80% chance of winning. Its true no matter who wins the wing nuts on both sides would freak out and scream conspiracy, but since the right wing nuts have had 4 years of proclaiming that Obama is Satan incarnate his win tonight will only solidify in their deranged minds that someone is pulling the strings behind the curtains.

So Obama is in fact Satan, and the Anti-Christ, while also having been genetically engineered to be related to the Reptilian British Monarchy, and inducted into the Illuminati, the Freemasons, the Nazi Party, ZOG, and the NWO.


The hard part will be when he has to start stabbing himself in his own back, to determine which of those will come out on top.....

Since I know as a Libertarian you probably do not care for Obama's policies,I congratulate you for putting aside you personal opinions and looking at the data..something we see too little of in the political sections of JREF.

There have been some reports of machines registering votes for Obama when you select Romney. Also, I have experienced video poker machines that select Deuces Wild when I touch Jacks or Better. In all cases, I'm pretty sure it's just touch screens out of calibration. Certainly with video poker, both options are equally capable of taking my money.

I agree, I think technical problems on a project of this scale are inevitable.

I have to tell you I really appreciate this. Without going off topic (well maybe just a inch but I'll bring it back at the end!), I don't support (on fiscal policy - although I am with him on things like gay marriage/DADT) Obama but I also believe that Obama truly thinks hes doing what is right for the country and wants to create a better America for his children. I think his personality and good intentions are genuine, and people who think hes a secret muslim/wants to destroy America/Satan drive me up the wall. Hes a good campaigner and knows how to inspire people, which is rare amongst the opposition (being a member of the opposition I think I can say that).

(And bringing it back on topic...) Unfortunately as I review the usual sites (ATS, GLP, etc.) I am a bit worried about some of the foaming-at-the-mouth hysterical right wing tonight in terms of reactions. The hysterical left wing will be happy because Obama will win, so no issue there. But I am seeing idiots on GLP claiming that they want to riot if Obama wins. Right wing nutbars from GLP + guns + wanting to riot = not good. Hopefully its just bluster, and if history is any occasion thats all it is, but still something to keep track of.

This is a perfect example of our biannual voter fraud hysteria in action. People on both sides really do believe the other side can only win by stealing, so they blow out of proportion every single seeming voting anomaly. But it just doesn't make any intuitive sense - if Romney was going to steal the election (he wont - Obama wins), why would you leave tantalizing clues about your nefarious plot by SHOWING PEOPLE that the machine selects the other candidate after selecting Obama? As with most CTs, the opposition is both amazingly powerful and concurrently so eager to leave behind clues to their devious plots that everyone finds out about it.

Thats not to say voter fraud/coordinated suppression doesn't happen. It does, and its real. But 95% of it is hysterical public over-reaction to non-events. And of the 5% that is real, the vast majority of it is not any plot but simply mass incompetence by poll workers.
