The DeSantis gambit

De Santis kick off has become a total fiasco.
Makes both him and Musk look bad. Win win as far as I am concerned.
And you know that Iger, De Santis arch foe, is laughing his head off at this.

We already had the "announcement of the announcement" (as so often happens.) What did people logging in think they were going to hear?

Elon says the launch went exactly as expected. It was a trial and he didn't expect it to get DeSantis nominated for this election. They did get a lot of useful data for this failure and Musk will have the required number of servers and staff available for the next launch. Everything will be in place for the 2028 election. When he lands men on Mars.

Something like this happened during Jack Dorsey's first go as Twitter's CEO. According to Hatching Twitter, one of the many reasons he got bounced that first time was that he would push Twitter as a news source for the 2008(?) election. Twitter's infrastructure simply could not handle that. There were frequent outages. It didn't help that Dorsey also pushed backed scheduled maintenance in order to keep the service up 24/7. Oh, sweet irony.

Anyway, there's no way Lord Hairplugs should have been caught off guard by this.

It strikes me as very unusual choice for someone with such an unpleasant voice to choose an audio-only format to make such an announcement.

Usually these kinds of announcements come with striking visuals. Stock footage of flags waving, cuts of manly gesticulating during speeches, rock, flag, eagle, etc etc.

Instead it's just a low quality stream of Ron's nails-on-chalkboard voice. Terrible. He sounds like a huge dweeb.

You'd think a guy who is so into performative manhood would want a visual medium to put all those things you mention on display.

I've said it before, but there are no serious people in the Republican party. Not just among the lunatics and nitwits that are running. But the actual staffers and advisors and such. The campaign chair people, the chiefs of staff, the comms teams, finance people, etc. These are the people who need to be serious professionals. But in today's GQP, you only need to be able to regurgitate the rhetoric.

Communications director can't craft an easily digestible message and consistently relay it? No problem, just call the reporters asking follow up questions "woke socialists".

Legal team didn't make sure the song or image you are using isn't violating anyone's copyright? "What happened to free speech?"

and on and on and on

The weirdest symptom of this is how cheap and amateurish everything looks. Like in the past you had to admit the GOP had good production values. It was slick and hollow and stupid but at least they polished the edges off.

Now? Is there not a single halfway competent graphics designer on the Right Side of the political spectrum anymore? Why do all of their logos and flyers and graphics look so bad?

I mean look at this: https://www.reddit.com/r/CrappyDesi...vebloq.com/news/terrible-flyer-for-politician

That looks like something I did in high school when I discovered clip art in Word.

I imagine this image makes a lot more sense to the target audience, Facebook poisoned Boomers whose entire worldview is filtered through bizarrely constructed memes. This might look like schizo-posting to everyone else, but it might mean something to the terminally online Republican.

"I'm going to add randomly add a Minion into it. See how it fits? Like it was meant to be there. WELL IT SHOULDN'T!"

Unfortunately, they didn't auto-destruct him.
