The "Conservative Bible Project" ... Dumbest Thing Ever?

You would make millions. I'd buy one. As long as you made the pages all crinkly and thin like real bibles, and leather bound. It would be fun to pull out and use to debate people. "That's not what MY bible says!"

Oh of course it's going to be a crinkly and leather bound and all that stuff that make it an authentic bible!!

And you know, it's going to be the "King Frank Version" :D

Does this mean they're going to fix all those instances where GOP was misspelled as GOD?

The more I read of Shafly's writings, the more I dislike him.

It just gets worse and worse:
Conservapedia said:
Given the many diseases associated with homosexuality, the Bible prohibition against homosexuality is quite arguably one of the many examples where the Bible exhibited knowledge that was ahead of its time.

I wonder what diseases are associated with clothes of mixed fibers.

I was interested in how Conservapedia would portray Norway, so I looked it up.

To my great surprise, it reads like an advertisment for social democracy and a strong welfare state, and shows that socialism doesn't neccesarily kill private enterprise :p

The article even uses the word 'liberal' favorably several times.

I mentioned this in another thread when this website was brought up, but you should read their article on Asia. The main points are:

- It's big.
- It is full of tigers and pandas and monkeys and stuff.

They then proceed to list a bunch of Asian countries, however, Israel is noticeably absent from the list.

Stephen Colbert just asked the world to go to Conservapedia and take care of an error in the Bible, to whit - he's not in it. He's asked people to put him in as Moses or Sampson... :D Too funny! The place is going to get slammed...

Hey, you always knew Jebus was a commie liberal!!!! Time to correct the bible the RIGHT way!!!

I don't always agree with Dreher, but he's spot on with that and I love the replies:
I love how they want to integrate the free market into the bible, "and jesus said "let there be insurance cards, and woe be upon thee who can't afford thy premiums!" and so he refused to care for the poor and the sick, for they were unprofitable." Sounds about right...not to mention jesus no longer kicks the money changers from the temple, but admiringly says, "and no man shall ever regulate them, for that would be folly to their creativity!" probably too big of words for conservatives.

Remember, while reading this, that Andy Schlafly is the founder of Conservapedia.

I've read some of the talk pages and his comments are indeed priceless.

Meh.

hmm..conservapedia seems to be down. I wonder if it's related?

Oh, here's a good one. Not one of those pesky "liberal" passages, just a huge embarrassment:

11 And he said unto them, Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are without, all these things are done in parables: 12 That seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not understand; lest at any time they should be converted, and their sins should be forgiven them.

Not very nice, is it? So let's, er, reverse the meaning of verse 12 completely:

11 He said to them, "You have been granted insight into the kingdom of God, but to others the parables contain the mysteries: 12 that they may see but not perceive and hear but not understand; yet should they convert, then their sins shall be forgiven.

The note at the side comments: "translating this verse is a big challenge".

If successful, this project should do a nice job of separating the sincere inerrantists from the nationalists.
