The Beatles conspiracy!!

Technically I have been to see the Beatles, though as I was inside my mother at the time it probably counts more as "went to the gig". Paul McCartney at Glastonbury was one of the best shows I've seen there.

For my money, they Beatles wrote the book on how to write catchy pop songs, defined an entire era for a generation, and with George Martin pretty much invented the modern suite of recording studio gimmicks and tricks. They may not have been the best musicians in the world, or wrote the best songs ever, but as a band their influence on music and popular culture is immeasurably huge.

I used to spend time arguing with the Paul is dead crowd, and they are just as idiotic, stubborn and blind to what is staring them in the face as the moon hoax dullards.

At least the "Paul is dead" or "Satan messages played backwards" , or even Charles Manson thinking they were telling him to start a race war and rule mankind as Jesus reborn, you can see the idea is stupid, nutty, but also how somebody could think it made sense.

With this? Less so than normal. Even by Beatles conspiracies standards this is lacking. And the others are not overly abundant with good sense and evidence.

What happened to all the duplicates ? Are they working as lookie likies? all bumped off? Re worked in to the Dave Clarke 5 or the Hollies?

You're certainly in the right forum if you believe that Yoko Ono broke up the Beatles.

Me, or Myron?

I have little to no opinion on that, I'm just a moderate fan, not an historian of the group.

I just think she's a howling oxygen thief. :p

(won't be drawn into Jimmy vs. Blues Greats arguments either... just don't care)

Whichever of you believes she broke up the Beatles. Myron said he or she is "still pissed off at Yoko" and you replied "all right thinking people are". What would inspire such anger unless you attributed some past vile actions to her? The claim that her presence or activities ended the Beatles is conspiratorial nonsense.

As to her screeching on some of John's records, she was an avant-garde artist. You're not supposed to find her vocals aesthetically pleasing. They're intended to be jarring insofar as they evoke the pain and tragedy of the atomic bombs our nation dropped on her people. Don't like it? Join the club! But there's little point in being "pissed" at her for it, 40+ years later.

That's some pretty wild stuff; I looked at their FAQ section, sure that the first question there would be "are you freakin' serious?"

Still, for my money, the most ludicrous CT of all time is that Stephen King shot John Lennon. One thing the author of that website never seemed to take into account is that King, at 6'4" (at that time, before his accident), was a good six inches taller than Chapman's 5'10"- a difference that surely someone would have noticed and pointed out.

I've actually encountered that particular nut in real life, and he's a singular conspiracy theorist nutjob.

IIRC Lightfoot ended up being on the receiving end of a restraining order from King, and he made quite a pain of himself locally and lived up to all expectations you'd expect from a CT nutter.

She's still going:

Feel free to still be pissed.

As one of the top comments puts it:
Why did Mark Chapman shoot John Lennon? Yoko ducked.

From what I've read about (and by) Lightfoot, he's definitely A Beautiful Mind.
