Marketing uses the exact same tactics. You can't really fault them. They are just trying to sell their products. The real solution is for they buyer to be smarter and demand better products.

Similarly, the solution to political manipulation is for the citizens to be smarter, pay closer attention, ask tougher questions, follow up on their political leaders AFTER the election, and demand accountability.

One way debate a claim is to attack the argument or claim made. The other is to attack the person making the argument or claim, in this case Drudge. Such and argument is known as argumentum ad hominem.

If congress plans to increase benifits by 10% and the Republicans want to increase benifits by only 5% then that is a "cut" in benifits.

Evidence of this or are you just making it up? I *have* heard something similar to this where Republicans were slowing the rate of growth of a program and Democrats were calling *that* a cut. If the rate of growth is lower than inflation than it *is* a cut as over time the program would have to reduce services or cut costs in order to account for the inflation of dollars.
