I'm not so sure. These statements are difficult to refute via soundbite and they resonate with a portion of likely voters.

$2 is totally doable. It exists in many countries. We would just need to sufficiently subsidize gasoline. How we would pay for these subsidies is the interesting question.

As I said, creating the conditions necessary to make her statement "truthful" might well make us worse off than does the current cost of gas.

More distressing than her willingness to offer such undeliverable results is the willingness of some voters to believe her. I firmly believe that we need an IQ test for voters.
