Target: Europe

It sounded to me like you were referring to Gitmo etc when you said:

And if al Qaeda strikes in the US, is that not "the battlefield"?

i was talking about terror suspects getting arrested, not enemy combatants captured on a battlefield.

and what the **** is wrong with you? sure it will not be a battleground, thats actually what AQ wants, and you do as they wish.
i keep going on with my life and dont let me scare by the AQ freaks.

So if al Qaeda plants a roadside bomb in Afghanistan, it's a battlefield. But if they do the same in the USA, it's not?

since when is Afghanistan a battlefield because of roadside bombs? the roadside bombs are there because it is a battlefield.....

I think Europeans are more used and experianced in Terrorism.
Since i am a kid i always have been told go on with your live, dont let the terrorists change your life, thats what they want, when you do they have won.
the US seems to have a different tactic.

Why?

well, up until I guess 2005, the Israelis were the kings of dealing with terrorism. They just mop up the blood and guts, and go back to their business.

But now, it appears the Iraqis are the champs at moving on after a terrorist attack.

Are you contending that the US has been deliberately lying about terrorist threats? Because if not the "Boy Who Cried Wolf" analogy doesn't really fly since the Boy was deliberately falsely crying "wolf."

Also, would you think people might be held accountable should the US issue a terror alert, everyone ignores it, then it happens and lots of people die?

If the US issues a terror alert, as there has been quite a few, and nothing happens, can we make them accountable ? Remember last year ? And all the alert in previous years ?

The answer is no in both case. The US may (and ethically should) give all the evidence they have to the german government which then can assess it and take responsibility on action to be done. In all discretion.

But that is not what happened, it got BLARED on all media. And that is the boy who cried wolf part. ETA: media circus is another word I would use.

‘High threat’ of imminent terror attacks in Europe
By David Usborne
Monday, 4 October 2010

US citizens in Europe, and those with plans to visit, were given a warning by the State Department yesterday to “take every precaution” because of the elevated threat of terrorist attacks that could be aimed at popular tourist spots as well as transportation hubs.

After the alert was issued yesterday morning in Washington DC, British Home Secretary Theresa May said it was consistent with the British view of the threat. The Foreign Office warned of a “high threat” of attacks in countries including France and Germany.

French police arrest nine, seize weapons in terror probe
05/10/2010

In a separate operation also on Tuesday, French police arrested three men after finding their numbers in the mobile phone of a man of Algerian origin who was arrested at the weekend in Italy allegedly with a bomb-making kit.

Two of those suspects were arrested in the southern city of Marseille and the third in Bordeaux in the southwest, said a police source. Officials stressed that the two sets of arrests were not linked.

yeah, half of them will have their charges dropped, and the other half will be charged with non-terrorism related offenses.

Interesting article in The Atlantic:
The UK has developed what U.S. officials say is a new vein of human intelligence over the past several months and has shared the product with several other countries, including France and Germany. The country's signals intelligence agency, GCHQ, provided the Central Intelligence Agency with data to target Europeans believed to be part of a German-based cell that was plotting the most recent wave of attacks. The CIA, using Hellfire missiles on MQ-9 Reapers, has targeted suspected terrorists congregating in North Waziristan, Pakistan based on the new intelligence. These terrorist suspects include a Nuristani known to the U.S., a Yemeni man who helped facilitate the bombing of the U.S.S. Cole in 1998, several German nationals believed to be part of the current plots, and various Pakistanis and Chechens, according to officials.

Perhaps David Cameron started this story to distract the attention of the media from the Conservative Party Conference? Or from the fact that "real" terrorists actually are blowing stuff up in Ireland, where irony OD of the week had to be Martin McGinnis describing the "Real IRA" as "Neanderthals"- which would make him what? Homo erectus?

Explosion rocks UK embassay in Yemen
Wed Oct 6, 2010 6:47AM

Yemeni forensic examiners inspect the site of a bombing that targeted a convoy of the British ambassador in Sana'a, April 2010.

An explosion has targeted a British embassy vehicle in the vicinity of the UK embassy in the Yemeni capital of Sana'a, leaving at least three people injured.

The blast took place on Wednesday morning when a rocket landed near a British diplomatic vehicle not far from its embassy in the Yemeni capital, Associated Press quoted a Yemeni security official as saying.

At least three bystanders were wounded in the attack, added the official who was speaking on condition of anonymity.

He said the armored car was struck by shrapnel from the blast but did not know of any British casualties.
