Tam 7?

Route 117 stops at South Point about every half hour, but only travelling south, (northbound you have to walk a little farther). You can connect at the SSTT to the Deuce. If you want to go to downtown better transfer at the SSTT to route 116 which also goes all the way to downtown, but avoids the strip traffic jams. Downtown to South Point (which means route 109 to SSTT transfer to route 117) lasts about 95 minutes, the other direction needs only about 80 minutes to finish.

It sounds like South Point is too far away to taxi it to the Rio so as long as there's a shuttle that stops at both I'm totally good. What little I saw of Vegas was nice but I'm primarily there for TAM and for the P&T show. TAM6 was my first TAM and the first time I got to see P&T live. It was my first vacation in eight years. I'm already working in next year into my budget (including getting out there a few days early to volunteer). If I can swing it, it will be TAM by day, P&T by night for almost a week!

I have not previously ridden sidesaddle, but that's simply because I've never had access to one. The trick is that the horse needs to also know how to take signals from one leg and the crop instead of two legs. It's a lost art.

Does Geek Goddess even know she's been volunteered?

ArthW, I'll be in the 'hug' line, too...

It's actually not as hard as one might think. Yes, I've ridden sidesaddle. Most horses get the idea of the crop giving the signal pretty quickly.

But yes, it's very difficult to find sidesaddles these days.

For me, the idea of going to TAM is to be at TAM. Going to Vegas has nothing to do with it. TAM is the only reason I have to go to Vegas. In fact, being on the strip has been a distraction that I could easily live without. Plus, if you are inclined to gamble, the odds are usually better in off the strip casinos. And how hard would it be, really, to spend a day site seeing if you are so inclined?

Also, what difference would it make what hotel the forum party is at? Who knows? Maybe it could be held in an actual affordable room designed for a party thus avoiding the usual arrival of hotel security guards to break it up? Like the reception hall… Or it could still be held on the strip. Whatever…

Holding the price down and better logistics (hall to eating and sleeping areas) and the general cost of things should, in my opinion, be the main concern.

And it’s not as though we would be moving to a dump. (Remember the Riviera?)

I’m all for moving TAM off the strip. The only thing better from my standpoint would be to move it to Santa Monica, and that isn’t going to happen.

Just my opinion…

Miss_Kitt gave me the info last night on the impending JGLRness and as long as I can get a nice, autopilot sort of horse, I'm in. :p

Also so there for bowling, in which I shall win more homeopathic points than anyone else, being the Worst Bowler in the World(TM) - I've put the ball behind me on more than one occasion.

Sober.

Be very afraid. :D

I do believe that bowling and pool are the only two sports where people brag about how bad they are at them.

Yeah, but when people brag about how bad they are at pool, they're usually trying to talk you into playing them for money.

I'm very proud of how bad I am at golf. I win prizes, I'm so bad.

And I've also put the ball behind me in bowling, sober, and when I had a 170 or so average... There's no limit on butterfingers.

I don't know if I can bowl anymore -- I have never really recovered from the tendonitis I developed after my kid was born. I can bowl about 4 frames and then I can't use my thumb anymore...I could really do homeopathic scoring, as I'd just roll the MEMORY of the ball down the lane, and you folks can tell me how you well you FEEL I did...

Not as impressive as you think, Desktop: Lots of people have them just shrivel up when contemplating a 7-10 split!

I'd be curious to know how many Americans would come to a UK / Europe based TAM.
Cost would be a major issue- the same one non Americans face getting to Vegas.

Kitty mentioned there being some sort of thread on TAM/UK... I can't locate it, and can't even locate Kitty's post mentioning it.

I'd be up for it. I'd much prefer an excuse to revisit the UK than Vegas, and if I can't lure everyone to Macau (think Vegas with Chinese food and side trips. before and after. to The Great Wall, Angkor Wat, Hong Kong, et al) or somewhere else in Asia, then I could go for England, fer shure.

I'm getting pretty good at Wii bowling. :o I gave up bowling after I played 3 games with an average of 3. In one game I actually managed a zero as the only pins I knocked down occurede when the ball jumped to the next lane and scored a strike. I was not allowed back in that establishment.

I'm much better with horses.

Boo

I would be interested. Though with airline prices the way they are now, it would be difficult.

~ggep~

For TAM 8, I'm hoping for Kathy Griffin as entertainment. She could put together a customized set for us no problem. Her act is peppered with enough skepticism that it shouldn't be a problem. Patton Oswald is good also. Either one might do it for the publicity. It would be great symbiosis if TAM made it on "My Life on the D List."
