Sylvia Browne and her book

A positive view on the book

Hmmm... maybe, just maybe this will backfire on the Browneian Motion (pun intended) ?

It's so clearly outrageous nonsense that it might actually make some of her followers see it for the woowoo drivel that it is.

You are clearly an optimist.

(Remember Jamestown, Hale-bop, Uganda, Waco.....)

From Randi's commentary:
"Totems," she says, are animals who come here "from the Other Side to watch over us and protect us." Sylvia's personal totem, she avers, is an elephant. So don't mess with Sylvia, or her totem will flatten you!

I see Sylvia's elephant and raise her my three totems. My cobra scares her elephant [Rule 8]less, my dragon sprays her elephant with acid, giving it a horribly painful death, and finally my raven feasts on the corpse.

I forgot about the totems. I wonder if Mrs. Browne's elephant is by any chance pink? It would explain a lot.

Shame on me.

About this whole rainbow bridge thing, are animals killed by other animals, and the animal killers themselves (i.e. the mouse and the cat) crossing that rainbow bridge together? In other words, is that little wounded/maimed and eaten mouse gonna someday see the critter who maimed and ate it walking down that ol' rainbow bridge? If I were the mouse, I'd be telepathically telling Syl that it is all a gyp.

It's early, and my coffee has failed to kick in... :(

Call who, and about what?

ROFL! I have got to stop logging on in the morning until my brain is fully engaged... :D

I sure hope my dead cat is not in Mrs. Browne's pet heaven. Because animals there don't eat. And food was about all my cat cared about. So this heaven would be my cat's hell.

What really astounds me is that it took three , count'em, three! authors to come up with this drivel.

Four authors if you click on the Amazon title. Kat Shehata and Jo McElwee. I'm guessing they did the donkey work and Sylvia stuck her name and mugshot on the top to reel the rubes in. See also Tom Clancy.

All Jo McElwee did was illustrate the book.

That's all? That 90% of the work right there. I've leafed through it and it's essentially a full colour picture per page with a short paragraph or two on text on the side. They're not stunning pictures but they must have taken some work even if the subject matter is ludicrous.

Now take a look at the book cover on Amazon. You'll see another credit "written with Kat Shehata".

I can see with a quick google that they are a mother daughter team who've done other kids books. It's seems likely that they ghost wrote this one with minimal effort on Sylvia's (or her son's) part.

Question about the 72 degrees thing: Wouldn't the penguins and polar bears be uncomfortable?

Illustrating is not writing. You said "Four authors if you click on the Amazon title. Kat Shehata and Jo McElwee." It's actually three authors and one illustrator.

I guess you're right, but you know what I mean :)
