So CNN did a kinda fact check on the swine flu and I noticed something pretty funny...

Originally, this flu was going to kill off 2/3rds of the Earth's population, and allow the eternal rule of the Zionist Illuminati over the world.

But, since Alex Jones blew the lid off the story soooo quickly, they decided to reduce the potency of the flu after the fact. But they will try again in a few years after Alex Jones' unfortunate "accident".

Yes, I was also informed of something similar. Since I'm confident that Purdue University is better informed than they are, I don't concern myself with their portrayal of the "facts."

I agree with you, it is something to be aware of, but not to panic about unless you are a member of one of the three categories of people I mentioned. The precautions we take should be no different than with any other flu or your daily hygienic routine.

Of Jones, with his theory that the "Elites" are out to kill 90% of humanity (for reasons he never makes clear) could say this is the Beginning Of The End. And I do not doubt, giving his talent for contradiction, that Jones will try to push both theories at the same time.

Then Purdue isn't using the definition used by epidemiologists. Its like the difference between science-speak theory and common argot theory.

Since epidemiologists are the ones that are making the call, it isn't really up to you to require that their definition match what you found online.

The definition wasn't something I went fishing for online at the time the media launched their scaremongering campaign. It has been stated as such by more than one source that include epidemiologists.

It should also be noted that in the initial discussion on this thread, the virus had only manifested itself in two countries, Mexico and the United States. At the onset it was not a pandemic as defined by epidemiologists. That is not to say that it has not become one at this point in time. That doesn't change the fact that the media has blown the severity of it way out of proportion. In a typical flu season over 30,000 people a year in the U.S. die from some strain of influenza. That is a rough statistic from the WHO. Many experts are saying that the original panic surrounding the severity of the disease was unsubstantiated.

It still doesn't change the fact that the epidemiological definition is that a significant number of cases than baseline is an epidemic. Since this is a new strain, no matter how dangerous or deadly it is, this counts.

That doesn't excuse the media from scaremongering. It also doesn't excuse an epidemiologist from forgetting his or her first graduate school classes.

Talk about hype. The flu kills all sorts of people every year. But the press doesnt cover every case. Now give a cool name like "swine flu", start it up in a 3rd world country like Mexico, and you are good to go!! That will easily get into the US and cause everyone to freak out.

Was surprised to see a TV presenter, a News Anchor on UK "More 4" channel, opine that a pandemic to kill a lot of people in this "overpopulated world" could be a good thing. His flu expert guest giggled nervously and mumbled something about few people wanting to volunteer to die before trying to drag the conversation away from that. Of course if the "US based Elites want to take over the entire world by depopulating it" crowd are correct, then perhaps the "Elites" could theoretically mean no harm to US citizens at all. I mean, if the USA only has 5% of the world population now, then the "Elites" could theoretically kill everybody else in the world leaving just 5% alive outside the USA. That would meet the 10% total survival rate very nicely. Perhaps only English speakers should be allowed to survive globally, which would meet the nutty "unite the world" with "one common language" objective so much easier. So relax Alex! Take a chill pill.
