Super Size Me

No, he's suggesting that if you eliminate carbs from your diet, it won't make a difference at all if you still consume a lot of calories. It's this little thing called sarcasm.

In the UK we're up in arms because we've discovered that the fried chicken and dressing in a salad means that it has more (k)calories than a gajillion burgers.

For a less extreme assessment look here http://www.netdoctor.co.uk/news/index.asp?id=110645&D=22&M=4&Y=2004 where they say that a salad has 554kcal and a Big Mac, large fries, large cola and McFlurry ice cream with Smarties has 1,458kcal

I like the way they have to include the large cola and McFlurry (two very sugary things) in order to make the comparison seem so lurid. Presumably, if you have the salad, you'll want a drink and dessert too, if you would have eaten them with the burger.

Compare like with like please, netdoctor.

I also like the uncontested offer from Kellogs at the bottom:

Kellogg's, criticised for the high sugar content of some of its cereals, is also offering pedometers to consumers of Special K.

Special K isn't one of those high sugar content cereals, so the pedometers are going to the wrong part of their clientele.

(Frosties, on the other hand, contain some 40g of sugar per 100g.)

For the 3 or so months of my summertime employment at McDonald's last year, my diet usually consisted of one of these two meals (depending on when I worked)

Daily Diet 1 (if I worked in the morning)
--------------------------------------------------------

Breakfast:
4 Hashbrowns (with Sweet and sour sauce)
2 Egg McMuffins
Large Coke

Lunch:
2 McChicken's (with promotional Cibatta sauce and Mayo)
1 Big Mac or Big Xtra
1 Large Coke

Supper:
Whatever my parents were making (unless I felt like another Big Xtra

Diet 2 (If I worked at night)
------------------------------------------------------

Breakfast:
A Sugary Cereal of some kind

Lunch:
2 Big Macs
1 Large Fries
1 Coke

Supper (and later snacks)
Big Xtra's
McChickens
Maybe a Side Salad or Fries
Literaly Litres of Coke

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I did this diet for nearly 3 months, with excercise thrown in, in addition to working at McDonalds'. I stayed around 130 lbs the whole time I was working at McDonalds, which proves that it is possible to eat almost exclusively there and not gain any weight, as long as one also adds in Vegitables and Fruit when possible and lots of excercise.

Of course, that was when I was going through puberty at the time so I guess its expected for males to eat insane amounts of food and not necessary gain weight.

...snip description of uber-junk-food diet...

KC: if I see a newspaper article "thin Canadian with unfair metabolism lynched by an angry mob of fat people", which should happen soon at this rate, I'll know you won't be posting any more.

And there isn't a jury in Canada who would convict them, by the way.

yes, it's extremely cruel of you to remind us old people of what it was like to be young and have our metabolism work for us...

I got dragged to this film last night (mentioned in a redundant thread around here somewhere)... the wife wanted to see this and 'SAVED'.

I recommend 'SAVED'.
