To be fair, I'm arguing with someone who believes we live on a "Spinning Ball" rotating @ 1,000 mph, revolving around the sun @ 66,600 mph (axis 66.6 degrees), with the sun traveling @ 500,000 mph around the Milky Way---which is itself moving @ 670,000,000 mph.... without ONE Empirical Evidence in SUPPORT of such Buffoonery, who merely "Parrots" Pseudo-Science Philosopher Priests.

If I'm making a north-south shot @ 1,000 meters on a Calm Day with a Muzzle Velocity of 1,000 m/s ...with the Earth allegedly "Spinning" @ 1,000 mph ( 447 m/s ) from west to east beneath the bullet ( "Slipping Out" of that Reference Frame when Fired ), then my windage adjustment should be 447 meters to the east of center mass of the target.
That scenario is a Tear Jerkin Belly Laugher, to be quite frank.

The Bullet (Muzzle Velocity) is 1000 meters/second.

The Earth is "allegedly" spinning @ 447 meters/ second from West to East. ERGO...

In one second, my Aiming Point "Center Mass" should be 447 meters to the East of my Target. (IT's NOT) Voila

Well, that's quite strikingly wrong. If that is your argument against the rotation of the earth then I'm afraid it's a complete strawman.

If the earth's surface, the rifle, the bullet and the target are all moving East at 447 m/s then, when you fire the shot, the bullet accelerates to 1,000 m/s Southwards, but all the while it travels down the gun barrel, the barrel and the bullet also continue to travel East at 447 m/s. As the bullet emerges from the barrel heading South at 1,000 m/s it continues also to travel East at 447 m/s, since no force has acted on it to cause it to cease doing so.

As an analogy, even on a flat earth, if you were travelling East in a train at 100mph and released a toy balloon inside the carriage, you would expect it to continue to float along with you at 100mph rather than shoot off backwards up the carriage as it 'slips out of the frame'.

With all your military and navy connections, doubtless you are familiar with the notion that water pressure increases with depth.

Why do you think that happens? Why doesn't the high pressure water at the bottom of the ocean get squeezed out and just move to where the pressure is lower?

It is simple maths. Unfortunately, it seems to be beyond your ability to do it.

The actual correction is 0.048 meters for your example.

Are you even able to spot where you went so horribly wrong?
