Denial, quite simply.

The truth movement is like a gold mining town. It booms for a while until it's reason for existing can no longer be exploited. They're left scraping away at the earth desperate to find something new. Some people quit right away and leave, others hang around hoping another big find will be made and the boom times will return. Sorry bill but the truth movement is heading for ghost town status.

Well, in the same week this guy contacted me about his change of mind (he thanked me today for the encouragement), I discovered that Dylan Avery - who was, in 2006 arguably one of the most influential young truthers - has officially given up the idea that the Bush administration was behind the attacks.

That's big news, and very bad news, for the 9/11 Truth movement. The hard evidence suggests that the debunking (or, for Chris Mohr, 'rebuttal') efforts are paying off. Sure, I get a lot of hardcore truthers who spit venom on my channel, but I get a lot of supportive visitors as well.

And here at the JREF 9/11 Conspiracy subforum, true skeptics (who can think critically, that is) outnumber the 9/11 Truther-myth believers by a wide margin. So 9/11 Truth is failing miserably at convincing skeptics of its claims.

I think if you look at the arcs of Heiwa, Tony Szamboti, Major_Tom, Niels Harrit and Steven Jones on this forum, they have utterly failed to demonstrate that a controlled demolition took down the WTC buildings.

The Harrit/Jones paper, in particular, has had ZERO impact on the engineering profession or the scientific community. It just is that irrelevant to the scientific discussion of the collapses, which has frankly moved on and accepted the NIST recommendations by and large.

ozeco recommends changing my reference from 'truther' to 'troll'. I'm happy to do that, and heartily agree that the only people left 'arguing' for 9/11 Truth are essentially trolls, unable to present any new information.

Yesterday marked 10 years of failure for the malicious myths of 9/11 Truth, and firm evidence that science and reason are overwhelming this cult movement, as it should be.

I saw a few of the leaders of the truth movement at a podium, making a grand discovery and sharing it with the world, then I saw the fruits of their labor as dozens of high-ranking officials were arrested and charged with treason.


Oh wait - no I didn't.

Interesting to note that the Loose Change forum and the UK 9/11 forum (both of which I used to frequent) are ghost towns compared with a couple of years ago.

Perhaps the government conspiracy is now stamped on the public consciousness and has developed a life of it's own. A kitchen table judgement , especially on a World scale goes a hell of a long way you know.

And that's precisely why the Truth Movement has not accomplished anything in 10 years, and never will. You spend all of your time on the Internet trying to "win" arguments. How much closer to a new investigation has that brought you?

Maybe you should be presenting your well-crafted arguments and irrefutable evidence to your Congressman, DA, and sheriff, instead of to random strangers on the Internet.
 
A few months ago, I made a bet with a truther. I bet $1,000 that there wouldn't be 10,000 truthers at the GZ & DC memorials demanding a new investigation. He took readily...

Last week, I offered to make it $3,000 for 5,000 truthers. He declined. He called me from NYC this morning & conceded the bet. Though I give him props for actually making the trip to GZ. I can't help but laugh at how disillusioned he was at the low turnout.

Ah well, 2 good charities will be getting donations.

It surprises me to learn there are still truthers out there that actually take it seriously. I have my suspicions that most are just playing devil's advocate to try to kill time at work at this point.
