StopSylviaBrowne - Montel: Amanda Berry Reading

I see what you're saying but dead is much more probable than something as out there as "white slavery".

Just to cover her own @ss, I'd have thought she wouldn't come up with something that improbable, on the off chance the girl's body could be found years later. Even if they're gone 4, 5, 6 years so you can say whatever you want about them cause they'll probably not be found, you're safer going with dead.

"I have yet to see Browne be substantially right in one of these cases. But even if she was right 87% of the time (as she claims), how could anyone with an ounce of compassion in them tell a parent that their missing child is dead, when they really don't know for sure?"

I will go even further. How could anyone with an ounce of compassion in them tell a parent that their missing child is dead, even if they knew it for a fact?
Tell the police. No doubt.
Tell the police exactly where the body can be found. Absolutely!
But look into the face of the parent and tell them? Inhuman!

Did someone venture, on a previous Browne thread, the opinion that she might be close to sociopathic? What gets me about the Montel transcripts is that she seems to think that it's all about her. For instance, in this article:

She's--see, I hate this when they're in water. I just hate this. She's not alive, honey. And I'll tell you why, here we go again

What you hate about this? You're talking to her mother!

I've been reading your threads and site for a while now, Robert; may I add my vote of admiration?

Moufflon

Well done, as usual Robert. And, as usual, SB's callous attitude irks the crap out of me. Grrrr...

One minor nitpick... "An eyewitness had told police that they had seen Amanda getting into a car with thee men."

...But look into the face of the parent and tell them? Inhuman!

I wonder if she simply enjoys doing it.

Is that too cruel a thing to say about someone? Perhaps. But are other explanations (she's doing it for the money, etc.) any less damning?

I think she's just trying to get some variation in her readings. If she said every single time, that the victim was in a shallow grave near water in a wooded area, her readings would be too uniform.

There was a lengthy discussion a while back about whether she was in it for power or money.

Stellar job, as usual, RSL.

It is remarkable how you manage to control the tenor of your article to avoid going "over the top" despite Sylvia Browne being such an utterly contemptible person carrying out utterly contemptible deeds. Kudos to you.

Yeah but "white slavery" is a new one. And it's not only improbable, it's virtually impossible.

Your post was along the same lines of what I have been thinking since reading this story.. as to how Sylvia could possibly be dealing with this sort of thing, internally.

I don't know why, but I cannot bring myself to believe that it is just completely ignored by her on every level, as some suggest. I just can't make myself accept that. Maybe I'm just unable to see outside of the values I was raised with. I don't know. But I just find it impossible to believe that someone could realize what they had done and not at least have some, small level of personal torment over it. Maybe one sleepless night.. Maybe??
She has said that she suffers from insomnia, and the last time I watched her on Montel, 2 weeks ago, I thought that she looked like "not a happy camper". Maybe she is developing a conscience. Doubtful, but there's always hope.

I realize it's a bit of a side note, but in this reading, SB told a huge whopper--that she "worked" on the Ted Bundy case.

I was just reading his story. If there was any psychic information provided, it was completely useless. Too much of the story happened by catching lucky breaks (bound to happen eventually--like pulling the guy over for a minor traffic violation and finding suspicious items in the car) and routine police work.

I think she's after the money. When I saw her, she seemed to be doing the readings on autopilot. Didn't seem to take much pleasure in it at all.

She talked about her sons when I saw her. Someone asked her something like "My son is leaving home for the first time, will I be allright without him?" and she launched into a spiel about how she has two sons, one is 45 the other is 43 and they live within a mile of her, completely ignoring the woman who asked the question.

I heard her mention her children to parents of missing children before, which is just shameless.

Wow. A very moving and tragic story. It shocked me that Louwana died at such a young age. It surely does show the toll that this tragedy, compounded by Sylvia's useless nonsense, took on her.

<snip> :(

For another example of the toll having been told your child is dead, take a look at Sean Hornbecks parents appearance on the Montel and compare it to their appearance in January on Anderon Cooper. They appear to have physically aged decades over the last 4 years. I was shocked at the change in their apperance.

How could she look these people in the face and not see the physical marks of the suffering she has caused. There are none so blind as those who will not see and none so deaf as those who will not hear.

I'm going to go hug my children now.

Not conscience. Alcoholic paranoia.

Though each and every transcript upsets me, I found myself feeling pure rage after reading this one.

I don't know if this has already been mentioned, but SB seems to reek of rabid racism as she spouts off sterotypes.

This time it was something like "a stocky Cuban", when she refered to the lone abductor/murder.

Back in the days I was still able to tolerate watching her on Montel, I recall witnessing her bigotry repeatably. "Honey, this was a Hispanic gang member who killed your sister. His name was - uh - Juan. He drove one of those cars that are low to the ground."

"Honey, these were drug dealers from Columbia. The leader wore gold chains around his neck."

"Honey, your husband walked in as two black guys were getting ready to do a hold-up, and they had to get rid of him."

And on and on.

Oh I know I've said it before, but once again, this creature makes me wish that hell really exists. May she burn. Somehow, may she burn.

Check out the original thread (post #11) for her other claims about that:

New article up on the site:

Based largely on the research done by QG and LA in this thread.

Also Robert, the mention of "water" is also a typical claim in a cold reading missing persons case. If you need it, I can dig up the article in which Michael Shermer claims that according to his research of these missing person-psychic readings.

When I saw her, there were 2 mothers of murder victims in the studio audience who had come to find the identities of their son's killers and she made one a teenage gangster named Juan and the other an African-American with his pants hanging low named David.
