Of course, an acolyte would say that.
Now you are just being silly, Robert. Nobody would ever want to stop the darling old female doggy! No matter what you call herShould I look into creating StopThatDarlingOldFemaleDoggy.com?![]()
Thanks. Helen. I feel no reason to be impatient with Browne's supporters. Just Browne.
Ok... Here is a easy challenge for the secret poster. Find me diploma with a masters degree diploma with Sylvia's whatever her name was at the time. Now if I was a public figure and I am not but, still I can find documentation on any of my credentials within 5 minures max. Let's call it a very easy task and I will donate 1,000.00 dollars to his or her favorite charity. Heck I will even give it to him or her person. Now that would be a lot easier than Randi's challenge (although not as much money). Please feel free to tell the secert poster to go for it. He has two weeks. It has to be the school that she has written about in her books.(I think its USF? or whatever I can look it up) Let's call this the secret poster challenge. RSL please feel free to let him or her know.
Any luck yet, EE? You know what-- Sylvia has been posting and commenting on her church being in dire financial straits. Sylvia should just print off a copy of her degree really quick for you, then Avatar49 will call the school to verify, and then you can donate the $1,000 to Novus. It's a win-win for everyone.
Francine,
About 15 years ago a friend (I didn't know her at the time) fell victim to SB when her husband of 23 years was killed in a tragic accident. My friend called and made an appt. to see SB for 30 minutes. She told me that having arrived early, she looked around a bit, and noticed more then one luxury vehicle with vanity plates that seemed to indicate they belonged to SB.
Granted, she has no proof that they all belonged to her, but at least 2 of the plates would lead a reasonable person to suspect they did. My question is, if the church is in dire straits, how would SB justify owning luxury cars?
Also, though this probably belongs in another thread, there is one more thing about my friend's reading that I would like to address. Her reading, as I said, was for 30 minutes. SB walked into the room carrying a kitchen timer that she then set and it ticked away through out. She said that Brown was literally mid-sentence when the ringer went off, indicating the session had run it's 30 min. At which point she didn't bother to finish the sentence, say good-bye in closing, or show any other civil mannerism's. She just picked up the timer and walked out.
I would assume that SB would be concerned with her image, perhaps even wanting it known that she has people returning for addittional readings. Even prior to Robert's site, quite a few years prior, my friend realized almost instantly, and much to her chagrin, she had been conned.
Anyway, I suppose I am just venting my confusion as to how such a rude, no class creature, made it as far as she has.
Thanks Francine.
Julia

That's horrible. Francine may disagree with me to some extent (I'm curious what she will say), but your friend's situation, which is actually very sad, was not representative of all readings with Sylvia Browne. Maybe Francine has heard of that happening more. Your story was the first like it I have heard. It's also possible that things changed drastically between the 1980s and 1995 or so.
Druing my own reading in the late 1980s I was ushered politely into her office. Sylvia was seated behind a rather large desk. She started a tape and began to talk to me about what she was picking up psychically about me. About 20 minutes into the reading she invited me to ask her questions. I had a list. She took the list and carefully went through each question, giving me her impressions. At the end of the reading she recommended a book to me and in fact called Michael in to ask if he could get the exact name and author for me. She also invited me to attend her classes at a discounted rate, knowing I had very little income at that time.
Most people I knew back then had similar experiences.
Maybe she changed. Maybe it depends on what day you catch her or what kind of mood she is in, but she was not always rude. You are right about one thing, she would not have gotten far if she had been to everyone as she was to your poor friend.
Also, at the time of my reading, she drove an average car. She really didn't have a lot of money back then. Maybe it's when the money started rolling in from the Montel show, and fame, that she started to change. I wonder.
Her reading was in April of 1997. She said that the person that ushered her into the room for the reading was neither rude or polite, more indifferent. The walls of - at least the waiting room - were full of picture's of her and Montel, so I believe the money had started rolling in.
My friend, having only been widowed a few months, was dressed in dark clothes and had been crying. As soon as SB walked in she said, "You have a man standing next to you and he died from a burst hematobia." My friend volunteered that her husband had been a long-haul trucker and while going down a steep hill the brakes had gone out. He had complained to his boss about the breaks and that day was assured they had been checked and were fine. They weren't, and he sustained massive injuries. Two hours later in the hospital while she held his hand, he died of internal injuries.
Sylvia wouldn't let it go, like a dog with a bone, "No,no, no dear, he was dead before the truck ever crashed. He died from a sudden, burst hematobia, and was dead instantly." My friend knew she had made a huge mistake.
Under other circumstance something else Sylvia said would be hilarious. She advised my friend, "Even though it wasn't the fault of the truck company or your husband's boss, because it had nothing to do with the condition of the truck, you should sue them anyway. You should sue them for a lot of money because I can tell, they're JUST NOT NICE PEOPLE."
Oh, the ironey.

That's just really awful
It reminds me of the story on Robert's web site of the woman who lost her husband in 9/11. He was a firefighter. Sylvia said he drowned, and then she just wouldn't back off. You could just watch the woman's face and see how Sylvia had lost all credibility with her forever.
Sylvia was polite and friendly during my reading. But, it turned out, mostly wrong.

This was a Montel show and I did see this when it aired. I like were Sylvia stated that he actually drown in the twin tower because of all the water coming down to put out the flames. I mean c'mon...If you are wrong just say you are wrong. You got to love that last minute spin.

I remember flipping channels years ago and coming across Sylvia on Montel's show saying that she didn't believe in gravity. I really wanted her to elaborate further but she didn't and Montel didn't press her. Does anyone know what she might have been getting at?
You did not know that there is no gravity? The earth sucks.
Me said:"If ANY of you can point to an example of Browne being meaningfully correct about any missing person or murder case BEFORE that case was solved, please email me with whatever details you can at webmaster@StopSylvia.com. I will research the case, and will post my findings on my web site. I have been making this offer almost since my site opened in late 2006, and I have yet to receive an email from anyone even ATTEMPTING to show me such a case. I am fairly confident that if such a case existed, Sylvia and Montel (back when his show was still on) would have trumpeted it from the rooftops. If you think that I won't publish such a case, just post the details of the case here in this pro-Browne forum, or in your personal blog, or wherever you feel best. If no such case is posted, you should all wonder just why that is."
