But even that assumes the placebo effect is all about the patient. I understood that the placebo effect is much broader than that in that the doctor expects better outcomes for treated animals as compared to untreated animals. In other words, it encompasses a whole set of biases that make the patient and doctor think the treatment "worked" when it didn't change anything at all.
BTW, not arguing against what you are saying, only thinking that placebo effect covers a broader concept than "you think you got better only because you thought you were being treated."
