I like to describe Dragon*Con as "Mardi Gras for Geeks!" It's a giant science-fiction/fantasy convention, with lots of live entertainment, a party-like atmosphere, and tracks of panels for science and skepticism as a bonus!

I like to describe its SkepTrack as a "Mini-TAM" of sorts.

It takes place in Atlanta, GA, from Aug 30th to Sept 2nd, 2013.

Official Web Site: http://www.dragoncon.org/
SkepTrack site: http://www.skeptrack.org/

I have attended D*C from 2006 to 2012. And, I plan to be back in 2014!

However, I can't go this year, because I'm committed to attending Burning Man, part of which take place at the same time. And, I just got back from San Diego Comic-Con as a bit of consolation for that.

(My Burning Man thread: http://www.internationalskeptics.com/forums/showthread.php?t=250136
My Comic-Con thread: http://www.internationalskeptics.com/forums/showthread.php?t=259685 )

But, that doesn't mean the rest of you can't enjoy it!

If you arrive the evening before it starts, you should consider attending the Atlanta Star Party: An party featuring some of your favorite astronomers and other stuff!

I was staff until this year. For the first time in ages I bought my membership and am just going to enjoy the show. :)

I am not going, as usual, I am off to GenCon and will have no money left after it ;)

Cleon, I hope you get to have lots of fun, I know what it is like to work at cons and while it is fun, you definitely miss out on a lot.

This year I get to work at our very first Doctor Who convention on Long Island, which will be fun despite the work.

I thought this was canceled?

I was there when it was WorldCon several years ago. It sounds like it's still pretty much the same, and better than the now-overblown San Diego Comic-Con. I would love to go but it's not a go for this year.

I'll be at Dragon*Con and Skeptrack - am presenting at least once at Skeptrack and maybe on some other tracks. For the first time in a long time we're actually gonna have a hotel room downtown too (last few years we've commuted in, as we live approx 6 miles from the convention).

If you see me please say hello!

I would love to go but it may be a bit expensive from Australia so soon after TAM. Stupid geography:(

I'm trying to make it work this year. It would be an 8 hour drive or a 6 hour flight (since I don't live in a "hub" city). It sounds like a total blast, though!

I'm registered and have my hotel reservations (not one of the Con's hotels, but a couple miles away and half a block from the Metro.

First time ever and looking forward to it.

I am attempting to plan from florida! Its not far from me really. I am looking for a place to stay From thursday-monday. ANYONE NEED A ROOMMATE OR HAVE A PLACE TO CRASH!! I am waiting to find a place to stay before I plan a bit more, But I hoped someone was like me and was in need of finding a few people to split costs!

I had looked into finally going this year, but as of now am not. I'm wrapping up my work in Madison this week, and am hanging out up here until the end of August (with 2 weeks in DC). So unless I can extend my lease another month or two, I'll be busy moving what little I have up here back to St. Louis. I may go to Milwaukee as a consolation prize. :)

All those who have confirmed their attendance, please add yourself to the list:

I included those confirmed above. I did not include anyone who didn't finalize their attendance, yet.

Also indicate if you are going to the Star Party the evening before:

I've booked a (much too expensive, but nothing cheaper seems to be available anymore :() room at an overflow hotel just in case, though I'm still not sure I can make it, so I won't yet add my name to the table. Fingers crossed, though. I've only been to Dragon*Con once, three years ago, so it would be fun to return.

ETA: And, yes, if I do go I'll try to be at the Atlanta Star Party, as I couldn't make it the last time.

I'll be there with children and niece and nephew for at least a day. I've never been, have no idea what to expect.
