Nice feeling to be safe in the secluded confines of isolationism, unaware of a larger world.
Strange bedfellows the world over are making new alliances. The billions offended and attacked by Trump are doing things that are effective, such as knowing and acting upon the fact that the end of Pax Americana is here. The automatic deference shown Brand USA is forever gone; the moral spine of American voters is known to have snapped in two and broken, and that they are not to be trusted. No more "if not for us, you'd be speaking Russian/German/Japanese, hand over those favorable commercial term, or else"; a boasting threat I have witnessed American executives make in Europe. Now? Now they are interrupted with a resounding "◊◊◊◊ off!"
I truly think is the end of the American free ride. No longer will PhD students flock to its universities, nor accomplished immigrants prefer its now nasty shores, no more global brain drain. Hurrah!
The French want Miss Liberty back. A flying US flag in movie theaters now inspires jeers and mockery. Americans are, quite simply, the star villains in the equivalent of post-WWII movies made after today. How does it feel to be public world enemy number one, the threat all the rest of humanity now bonds together to counter?

The Form the Resistance takes is a reorienting of the World away from the US; an irrevocable rejection of the idea of Single Superpower, and more alliances and economic unions to negotiate with the US on eye-level instead of one-on-one from a position of weakness - the only way Trump know how to negotiate.
And, more fundamentally, the official acceptance that the center of the world lies in Asia, not Europe or the US.
Economic power and population size should have been a hint.

Will these demonstrations even be mentioned in Fox News, other than “a few people paid by George Soros tried to stage a protest, but they were ignored”?

It would not be a lawful order to attack a NATO ally. American troops are allowed to refuse to comply with a lawful order. And they may just arrest the person who gave the order.

This strikes me as one of the major parts of the current stupidity. The tariffs imply, first of all, that the US has something that other countries cannot do without, and second that economic parity is the only thing that's important. A country like Sri Lanka can never achieve a balanced trade status with us, but some people might consider it worthwhile to have a friend and ally there, a little balance against China and India, which are all too eager to provide them with whatever they want, at the cost of debt and dependency. The same, I expect, with Cambodia and its neighbors, which are already in the process of becoming China's economic satellites. Viet Nam thought the coming tariffs might be to their benefit, and give them a leg up on China, but it looks as if the algorithm will trump diplomacy. The assumption is that the world needs the US more than the US needs the world, and that after the initial shock, all the countries will be bowing and scraping up to us with tears in our eyes pleading, "oh sir, please....: I suspect that's going to be a big mistake, and though some countries might try some less demeaning form of this, some, like China, will not, because they need not, while others will not because they cannot.
I can sort of understand tariffs when they are used to prevent unfair competition with domestic products. But much of what is at issue here is products we do not make, and one of the reasons we do not make them is that we cannot do so as cheaply and efficiently as some other countries, without becoming like them. Of course some of this is because the companies in question, seeking the greatest profit, would rather send their manufacturing overseas and make more money, but it's not that alone. I don't think the Americans who support this stuff are thinking very clearly. We buy cheap Asian sneakers because we do not want either to be the people who make them or to pay what they would cost if we were. I'm not as convinced that the political leaders doing all this are making the same mistake, though. I hope it ends up the mistake it should be, but I don't think it's unwitting. I suspect the billionaires running the show would be happy if a large segment of the US population became poorer, disempowered and de facto enslaved. I always have a feeling that they all read Ayn Rand as adolescents and never grew up, or saw Doctor No, and thought to themselves, "yeah, I can see myself there, but I'm smarter than that."
My search on their front page for the words protest, demonstration and rally/rallies right now found only this one article + video from Mar 31!

Heck, they're barely mentioned on the BBC where the numbers involved are referred to as "thousands".
I'm not sure why the BBC is choosing to downplay the size and extent of the anti-Trump protests.
Except they wouldn't be attacking a NATO ally, they'd be defending the US against a major and immediate threat (or whatever excuse the Trump administration come up with). There may be principled officers who would refuse such an order but the Trump administration has been carefully and methodically removing them from the chain of command.

You misunderstand. My point is that I live in a Democrat enclave. My city and my state overwhelmingly voted for Biden.
It's no sign of any real resistance, for the same people who came out to the polls against Trump in November, to come out to the plaza against Trump today. It's still the same population. They're not suddenly more of a threat to the administration, simply by existing today, than they were last fall.
