So what form does the resistance take?

Recession, war, massive roundup of migrants? Trump might force us into massive civil disobedience.

If he invades Greenland, there will be a military coup.

I like that so many people are showing up for the protests (but not for the reason they have to be there.) But ultimately I wonder what the use is? Is anyone being protested against going to take notice, much less do anything? At these large ones, I mean. Perhaps some people are getting through at the little ones like the Town Halls.

The only thing that seems to provoke changes is something like Jan 6.

3 million people on the lawn in front of the capital building cant be ignored.

Sure they can, if they're the same three million people who lost an election.

Trump already knows millions of people voted against him. Those same people making a big stink about how they exist and don't like him isn't going to change anything.

If these millions of protesters were instead millions of get out the vote volunteers in September of last year, they might have made a difference when making a difference actually mattered to the outcome. These millions reminding us of their existence now is redundant and useless.

Then why does it bother you so much?

It doesn't. I live in Portland, OR. If people making a big stink about losing an election to Trump bothered me, I'd have moved years ago.

Let me know when millions of people who voted for Trump start protesting against him.

Or let me know when the millions of people protesting against Trump decide to do something effective instead.

Why dont you think mass protest is effective?

One thing is almost certain, Trump will learn that the protests against him are HUGE and it will hurt his feelings immensely. So it is almost a given that you will see a string of insane social posts in which he declares in all CAPS that his crowds were far larger, and that fake news was exaggerating the size of the protests. In 3...2...

I think mass protest can be effective.
I don't think people who lost an election making a big production of being mad they lost an election are effective. If they were effective, they'd have won the election.
Really? How are they effective?

I think they can have an effect when they indicate a change public sentiment.

But I'm certainly open to the argument that mass protests are never effective.

Meanwhile, I think that protests from people who lost an election are no more effective than their lack of votes was effective.

They're not huge, though. They're a subset of the people who voted against him and lost.
and it will hurt his feelings immensely.
Petty and childish goal that it is.

Protesting in favor of more social media nonsense from Trump seems like a mentally retarded goal to me.

Exactly, and they can even shape public opinion, which in turn can lead to unexpected voting results (like the bigger than expected win in Wisconsin) They also can influence govt representatives, much in the same way as if their offices got bombarded by demands for some proposal or another.
Meanwhile, I think that protests from people who lost an election are no more effective than their lack of votes was effective.
That may be true for a lopsided election, but the election in question was quite close from a popular vote standpoint--to the point where those who argued it was stolen (via voter suppression) have some credibility. And it especially negates the claim of the lunatic-in-chief, who adamantly insists he 1) has mandate (proven false by both the vote and the protests) and 2) won by a huge margin (wrong for the same reasons)

Parkrose Permaculture talked about how they can build momentum, boost morale, and be a 'gateway' to getting people into other kinds of political activism. Then of course there's the 3.5% rule.

Hopefully all these protests will galvanize the public to engage in massive protests and civil disobedience and give the Dems the House, Senate or both in 2026. Could also convince Congress to take away Trump's power to create his own tariffs without Congressional approval. Basically limit his power to only those strictly given to him by the Constitution.
