Skydiving at TAM8 - The Official Thread

Well, at lest we know it wasn't scripted!

So, next time, write a script! :D

We novices err on the side of goggles too tight rather than goggles not on eyes.

Unless you keep your mouth closed during the freefall section (and who wants to do that?), that desert air coming at 100mph will dry out even the juiciest of mouths.

And honestly, when you're about to do this jump for the first time, you don't have many well-reasoned and insightful words when you're ambushed with the "any last words" question.

Here's my video:

(Edited, slightly, to take out some of the boring bits before the jump.)

Thanks for uploading, guys!. Seems like I'll be doing the jump next year, even if it's meant to be the last thing I'll do in my life. All in all, at my age any day can be the last day of my life :D

BTW, is the filming of the jump included in the service?

Video capture is done for all jumpers via wrist-mounted cams operated by "escorts". The videos are shown in the terminal when you return from landing spot.

Purchasing the video is an available option for an additional cost.

I know!! If you'll notice, I didn't have any good responses to that question, either.

My advice to jumpers in the future: Prepare an answer to the question "Any last word?" in advance! (It can be witty or funny or sarcastic in some way, if you want.) That way, when they ask for them, you won't come off with merely a bunch of "ummms" and "uuuuhhhs".

As Phyz pointed out, they always film the jump, from wrist cameras, by default. You can watch the video on their monitors, back at their office.

But, taking a DVD of it home with you will cost extra: $89.00 extra!! (At least for this company. The price may vary, but generally remains within that ballpark.)

Skydiving is no cheap thrill. Many cheap thrills can be had in Vegas for the price of one jump in the drop zone.
