Simple question for Bigfoot enthusiasts: Why no unambiguous photos/videos?

Well, if you accept what someone says, and need no further evidence, then sure, that's a cougar in Ohio.

Questions:

1. Cougars are a real scientifically documented animal correct?

2. If your answer is yes. then how is it you believe that they could not exist in Ohio, PA, West Virginia or Virginia even if transplanted or imported from other areas? Your opinion is that this is impossible?

I'm just trying to help you. I have no problem with cougars whatsoever.

I have a problem with claims and evidence, or lack thereof.

Most of us regulars here did not just get off the bus from Skeptic School.

Wasn't this good enough?

Yeah, we have examples to compare, so we don't need a cougar body. We have known cougar tracks, hair, dna, and scat.

This thread was about Bigfoot evidence and I was jumped on about mentioning a COUGAR sighting. A sighting of a real scientifically documented animal, regardless of it being not documented to exist in a particular area in years. What was basically being insinuated is that ALL THINGS and EVERYONE involved in investigating the Bigfoot phenomenon are liars, fools or hoaxers.
So why even continue this conversation?

But you don't deny it. The truth may be politically incorrect, but it must be brought up in defense of inaccurate comparisons. Like my point in the "why no bigfoot roadkill" thread. I asked for the number of other apes roadkilled in their native habitat. All I got was obfuscation.

It's a valid point. Considering that the prefered method of hunting bigfoot is banging trees with a stick and packing an audio recorder. While pistol hunting from their car. On the outskirts of some yahoo town.
Chimps and gorillas and other apes and monkeys get shot and killed all the time. It seems logical to me that some hunter would have shot a bigfoot by now.

People may tells yarns about Bigfoot and/or cougars because they find it fun or simply part of folk tradition. It doesn't necessarily make them an inherently dishonest or foolish person.

I didn't say anything about liars, fools, or hoaxers, iirc.

I said that a statement about seeing animal X, is not enough...

If someone says they saw a cougar, then there should be evidence in the area to support the sighting. Cougars, like other animals, readily give their presence away with lots of physical evidence. There's really no need to rely on a witness account.

Doubly so for 800 pound hairy bipeds.

To continue the conversation is to understand.

I don't think you were jumped on so much as shown that it is up to you to find the truth. Someone says Cougars don't exist in Virginia, simple check to find out the truth of that. Someone shows you a picture of a Cougar dragging off a deer in Ohio, simple check to see if it's true.

This is exactly how rumor takes on a life of its own. The same with Bigfootery.

You have a member that has an educated background in your organization and yet from your words that member is feeding you and others false information if they tell you Cougars are being ignored by the State and there is a conspiracy of disinformation.

That is rampant in Bigfootery.

It does pertain to the conversation :)
