Ok. I'm not entirely sure what this is good for. I started it as a personal examination of the towers proportions and volume, in comparison to the bathtub for some idea of the quantity that was vaporised. I was going to pm it to chek or someone equaly distinguished
for their thoughts, but i've been sitting on it for a few weeks now so I'll go ahead and post it here. I have a feeling my calculations (or statistics) are right out, and I don't have enough info on the core so anyway...
I'm a terrible mathematician - let me tell you that now, but the stuff I've done is not complex, it was just a matter of finding the data and using the good old AxBxC to get the cubic volume.
Let me preface this by saying the majority of sites claim that the Towers are 95% air! I came out with a figure closer to 60%, so I ask folks to check my statistics and maths for me. Tower statistics are available from FEMA and NIST reports and 911research.com.
----------------------------------------------------------
The WTC bathtub is 510 x 980 x 70 feet. I make that a volume of 34,986,000 cubic Feet (CF).
The world trade buildings were 210 x 210 ft wide, by 1,362 feet tall. That's a volume of 60,064,200 CF.
So the volume of each intact building was roughly twice that of the tub. AFIK the floor and height figures are for the entire height of the towers, including the 'submerged' structure. Now I'll try to get an idea of the actual structure volume.
Lets lump the 10 cm thick concrete, trusses and (possible) I Frame into...
