Show me your papers?

Living in Ground Zero I can honestly say that things are very touchy here. I'd normally say I feel no personal threat at all but at this point I can't, even though I have no reason to.

It's definitely heated in our neck of the woods. Every where I go I see and hear people at odds about it. Workplaces are getting uncomfortable and it's the same thing that happened his first time around. You have the die hard cultists and then you have the die hard never-trumpers.

It's awkward as hell. I am not a fan. Trump has one thing right though, the only way the GOP is going to maintain control of, at least, the House is to invoke the insurrection act. If we have a midterm election it's going to be a blood bath. Just because the Trumpers around here like what's happening doesn't mean it's widespread. Among the noise I've heard online there are even some trumpers that are getting sick of it.

No. It is not illegal to be in an area where there are suspected illegals, as you surely know.
I'm referring to Noem's point of view. She has a very distorted view of what it legal in the USA.

ICE cannot detain you unless they have reasonable suspicion that you are an illegal alien or have violated immigration-related laws.
I think ICE will detain anyone they want, for any reason. Has ICE been held accountable for any wrongful detentions? They have not as far as I know. What is "reasonable" to ICE might not be rational. Reasonable suspicion of what? Walking around while being a US citizen?

Surely, you know that is ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊. First of all, they cannot even arrest you ("take you away") without probable cause. Second, they cannot use lethal force against you just because you resist. They need to reasonably believe that you pose an imminent threat of death or great bodily harm to them or to someone else.
Renee Good resisted opening her door for ICE. When her SUV grazed ICE officer Ross as she drove forward, he shot his handgun three times into the car while recording. Why was is reasonable for Ross to believe Good was a threat after she drove past him?

As usual, no argument, no evidence. What a disgrace. Bye.

Why is it all of you have the exact same behavior pattern?

You crawl out of your hole, squat down and deposit a load of ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊, proclaim it's actually gold, throw a fit when everyone else can blatantly see its ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊, and crawl back in your hole before that uncomfortable cognitive dissonance has a chance to set in. Rinse and repeat.

There are several examples as evidence posted in the main ICE thread, or you could have done ANY research at all and found that literally everything you're trying to claim they can't and don't do, they have in fact done numerous times and continue to do without any consequences.

Like are you honestly so clueless you don't know what's happening but still need to come here and pretend? Or are you literally just trolling?

Reminds me of the MO of all those conspiracy theorists of old, back when this forum was much more alive than today.

Most of my knowledge of mid-west cities is based on James Blish's 'Cities in Flight' novels; Scranton is bad. I do feel that if the spindizzy was invented now one might find the twin cities taking flight.

This weekend is going to be strongly blustery, snowy, and cold, so that will probably dampen the protests a bit. But the protests at the Federal Building seem to be escalating at the moment.
So you have Minnesotans (mostly descended from Vikings) protesting, and ICE 'police' from where ever the ICE are recruited from (Texas?); who do you think will bend before a bit of snow and wind?

Even the actual propagandists in the White House aren't outright denying that it's happening.

At this moment there are a number of American Citizens of the Oglala Sioux Tribe being held hostage by ICE.
The Tribe Leaders have been told they won't be released until rhe Tribe enters in to an agreement with ICE to allow their agents on to Reservation lands and cooperates with them over searches.
ICE have been told this will not happen, it's against Treaty and federal law.

You can follow the development of the story over the last week in the ICE thread.

Latest update

They've probably already been whisked off to a prison outside the U.S.

hey man, it's ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ crazy. nobody knows what to do.
Nobody knows what to do? Really? What happened to pussy hats, and blocking traffic, and rioting and arson and inflatable frog costumes? For a faction supposedly ready to stand up to jackbooted thugs, they sure ◊◊◊◊ the bed when the boots hit the ground.

yeah, really. their plan seems to have went out the window when federal agents showed up and started beating them up and shooting them. so now nobody knows what to do. this whole reelect trump thing is ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ the bed pretty bad right now.

She has no ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ idea what is legal in the USA! Not a ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ clue! And what's more, she just makes ◊◊◊◊ up however and whenever she feels like it, and tells her division to run with that. The habeus corpus debacle months ago was final and conclusive proof that she is no more a student of the law, let alone capable of interpreting and applying it at a federal government level, than my pet goldfish. And it's gotten worse since then.

ICE = Geheime Staatspolizei That's all people need to know, because that's how they are operating.

She resisted opening her car door??! No, she didn't. She had both hands on the steering wheel when she started to move away. The door was locked, although her driver window was open.

Liars gotta lie, and MAGA lies (just like their fuehrer lol)- constantly, in your face, 24/7 lies- even when there is video of exactly what happened, they always insist of substituting their own BS over the truth, evidence be damned...

From the very top down, they ALL lie....

Failing to comply with verbal orders can be seen as resistance.

ICE are not police.
It is law enforcement.

§ 287.8 Standards for enforcement activities
(2) If the immigration officer has a reasonable suspicion, based on specific articulable facts, that the person being questioned is, or is attempting to be, engaged in an offense against the United States or is an alien illegally in the United States, the immigration officer may briefly detain the person for questioning.
