September Stundie Nominations

The insanity of this beggars belief. Does a TV monitor somehow transmit lasers at full power after a round trip of some 700,000 Km? Somehow concentrating it back into a coherent beam and emitting it through equipment like CRTs, not in any way capable of doing so?

One may as well claim that the laser guns in Star Wars may kill you if a stray shot is emitted by your TV.

Why do you think George Lucas is re-issuing Star Wars yet again, he finally put a filter to weaken the shots. Previously he was paying massive amounts in lawsuits.

In 1969. Seriously.

I've never heard of any quarry that requires 7,000 trucks a day.

He probably got the number of trucks from his psychics. In my experience CTers know very little about math, science, engineering, and related fields.

NASA have released photographs which should destroy the Moon Landing Hoax conspiracies. Some hope. They forgot that CTers can "see" gravity.

"Im a bit confused about the gravity. When seeing astronauts in a shuttle they are flying around slowly and dont have much control about where they are going. But in the moon landings videos the astronauts seem to be running and jumping in control, but when in the buggy its totally locked onto the ground and drives around like its on a golf course!. Is their a weight limit with no gravity?"

" And about gravity, it certainly looks like Earth's gravity."

Okay, is there a Stundie in that link?

Probably. It deals with stupid understanding of physics, but not in a CT context.

...the TA was trying to create an example that would back the notion that things don’t always happen the way we think they will.

For his concrete example, the TA chose this beauty:

“…..while a pen always falls when you drop it on Earth, it would just float away if you let go of it on the Moon.”

The storyteller goes on to note his incredulity at the TA’s false assertion, but that his disbelief was not shared by the majority of the other students in the room.

The storyteller goes on to protest.

“But a pen would fall if you dropped it on the Moon, just more slowly.”

To which the TA responds.

“No it wouldn’t, because you’re too far away from the Earth’s gravity,” says the TA who then asks, “You saw the APOLLO astronauts walking around on the Moon, didn’t you?”

To which the storyteller responds, “why didn’t they float away?”

“Because they were wearing heavy boots,” asserted the TA.

From our good friends over at the LetsRoll forums (Hilite mine):

I was reading some info on the forums recently about Obama and Osama at least being related. I am now convinced that they are at least brothers, but my head is tellling me they are the same person. That revelation effected me so deeply that it brought me to tears and then I had to get on my face before Jehovah, because I knew the extent of the deception but did/do not want to believe it. I am still struggling with that. I think so much more is fake than real it is astounding.

Just ordinary common-or-garden grade stupidity from bill smith here, but worth a mention:

This way of looking at it is called 'pro bono' (who gains) or, if you like 'follow the money' and is one of the strongest reasons that I believe that 9/11 was an inside job.

I love it when conspiracy theories can't even get their own spurious arguments right.
