How are we sure that this one isn't being sarcastic in a way that is functionally identical to not being sarcastic and the jokes on us for getting upset at him?

Not true. If a person lied on their application, then their citizenship can be voided. It happened to a few nazis if I recall correctly.

Let's not forget Lucky Luciano....Mafia Boss who was stripped of his citizenship and deported back to Italy after being convicted of a crime.
If you are convicted of a serious crime, and you are a naturalized citizen, you can have your citizenship voided. Luciano is probably the most famous example.
You cannot be stripped of citizenship if you are a native born citizen,although you can have some rights taken away. (People convicted of a felony cannot vote..though they can petiion to have the right restored.That happened with Molly Bloom, the "Poker Princess" recently.

I am not a big fan of Omar at all..or the rest of the Squad,they are way too far to the left for my taste...but this has nothing to do with critising their policies, this is pure bigotry.
