Scott Brown swings... and misses... badly

Just for the record I am an Independent. From the link you posted and kinda what I feel is going on is they ( Republicans ) are kinda downplaying the need of having a college education in order to make it in today's society.

IMHO, You can skip college and go to a local Tech school for way better than half the price and get a degree in say auto mechanics. If you are good at it you can make 70 grand + a year easy. The day's of having to go to college are over as I see it. Now don't get me wrong education is prime but what they are saying is if you can't afford it, there are other alternatives to be successful.

Tim :)

I agree with you.

But the converse is that for many, many, many jobs, simply lacking a college degree -- no matter what it's in-- is an unsurmountable barrier, regardless of experience and skills. My otherwise-worthless BA in history was vital in getting me tech jobs because HR departments want college graduates. No BA, no career, for a lot of industries. They want the piece of paper.

It amazes me that they are still showing TV ads about the 'she claimed minority status to get ahead' thing, pitching it as an integrity thing now rather than a dubious heritage thing (Brown got his butt handed to him on that one, between the 'tomahawk chop/war whoop' video and when Warren did an ad where she looked straight into the camera and said 'While he attacks my family, I'll be fighting for yours.')

Well, her imaginary family...

He's done nothing to warrant being voted out. I'd also like to have some consistency. Ted Kennedy didn't get as influential as he was by being replaced every 4 years. We could use someone to have the cache that multiple terms brings.

Ted Kennedy also had a lot of political talent and a deep understanding of policy issues. Brown doesn't seem to have any of those skills.

Warren may not have Kennedys political skills, but she does understand policy issues.

However, in my view, he's batting for the wrong team, and if him winning gives the GOP/Tea Party control of the Senate then he's got to go down. Period.

---
And if you think the last two years of gridlock was bad, just give the GOP the Senate and you'll see new lows for gridlock.

And do you seriously think, for a minute, that the Tea Party loons who are running the show in the GOP now would give an ounce of influence to a moderate Republican?

You make good points. I wonder, are there any other states whose republican senators are in contested races like in Massachusetts? The thought of the tea party dolts obstructing everything for 4 more years is pretty scary.

Grr..... :boggled:

Go to Nate Silver's Blog and click on the Senate tab for a good overview of the races.

Read up on Ted Cruz in Texas (up by over 20 points right now). He is a giant sack of Tea Party crazy. In a debate last night, he dodged a birther question. If Brown's party is in charge, then Ted Cruz's party will be in charge... Scary.

Quite the dillema.

I did recall the last debate between these two, when Warren implied that a republican led congress would lead to a person who denies global warming being in charge of the EPA. I wish I could remember the names and what she was talking about. Does that ring any bells for anyone?

I think that would be pretty much a certainty. Why would Republicans put someone who understands the science of climate change in charge when Republican leadership and their base think it's a hoax?

While true, it is hardly a good (or even sane) situation, and deserves to be scorned.

Unfortunately, I do not think this is the reason for Republicans' apparentl scorn for higher education. They pander to uneducated crowd, that's all.

I think she said that James Inhofe, specifically, would be in charge of the environmental committee.

So a vote for any Republican means a vote for Inhofe.

"OMG! SCOTT BROWN IS REPUBLICAN! HE MUST BE EVIL!" - 98% of people in the state of Massachusetts.

But seriously, all I'm seeing on television from the Warren campaign is how Scott Brown is the spawn of Satan. I know nothing about what Warren stands for. According to Warren's commercials, Brown and Romney shaking hands once is far worse than lying about your heritage to get more money to go to college. Like NoahFence said, he has done nothing to be warranted out of office. People want him out of office here in Massachusetts simply because an "R" follows his name.

I'd like to see a link showing where Warren accused him of being "spawn of Satan".

But seriously, tying a local candidate to a national candidate is not exactly a new tactic, nor is it exclusive to Democrats. (Being in Texas, I get flyers all the time about how I need to vote Republican in state elections to "beat Obama".)

And I also think that scaring people with a "Republican Senate" is fair play. (Or "Democratic Senate" as I see here.) Of course, I'd rather see a race about issues, but at least party affiliation is more of an issue than racial heritage. It is something you choose.

My point was that Warren is making it more of a point to tell you how bad Scott Brown is, rather than educate you about her stance on issues. At least Scott Brown has ads that say more than "I will help the middle class."

I haven't seen any ads, so I'll have to take your word on that. However, the fact that he has been harping on her "Native American" claim says to me that he's not a slave to real issues either.

That's about the only thing that he's used against her. Of course there's going to be mud throwing between candidates, but Warren is doing far more of it than Brown.

What about calling her "Professor", and the "I'm not your student" comment? You really think the mud is lopsided?
