Whoops!

Brown-Warren debate: ‘I’m not a student in your classroom,’ or how not to zing
... After Warren gave a long, three-part answer, plus “icing” for a total of four, about how Brown has been less bipartisan than advertised in voting against jobs bills, he let loose with this: “Excuse me, I’m not a student in your classroom. Please let me respond.”

Brown routinely addresses Warren as “Professor,” and misses no opportunity to remind voters that Warren teaches at Harvard, but that line seemed both churlish and defensive. In asking, in effect, that she stop patronizing him, he put himself in the role of a subordinate demanding to be taken seriously by the boss. And worse, he again undercut the “nice guy” image that has been such an asset.

The verbal equivalent of stomping his foot, it was an interesting reversal of a gender stereotype, but not too senatorial. ...

Seems like he's not doing himself any favors, with this and the comment he made about Scalia being a good Supreme Court justice (read the article, his comment drew boos from the audience - ouch). If he blows it, it could tip control of the Senate to the Democrats.

He's so desperately trying to convince Mass voters that he's not really a Republican....

By attempting to use his opponent's employment at Harvard as an insult. How does he think that's supposed to help? Seems like he's pandering to the anti-intellectual crowd.

/me shakes his head in disbelief.

It amazes me that they are still showing TV ads about the 'she claimed minority status to get ahead' thing, pitching it as an integrity thing now rather than a dubious heritage thing (Brown got his butt handed to him on that one, between the 'tomahawk chop/war whoop' video and when Warren did an ad where she looked straight into the camera and said 'While he attacks my family, I'll be fighting for yours.')

Scalia. LOL

I bet other politicians take note if that.

It wasn't just Scalia, though, it was Scalia, Kennedy, Sotamayor...

What do these three have in common? They are all Brown's favorite Supreme Court Justices. Although that is about it.

Yeah, she really did quite the rhetorical ju-jitsu move on him there. He'd be wise to just shut the hell up about that particular issue...

Unfortunately, he seems to be taking a page from the Romney playbook. I've lost a lot of respect for Scott Brown lately.

Even if I found that persuasive...there's the little matter of the math of the Senate. Brown would have to be a hell of a Senator to risk control of the Senate swinging Republican upon his reelection. Incumbent shmumbent, he's an inferior candidate to put it politely and the big picture stakes are huge. No contest.

He's done nothing to warrant being voted out. I'd also like to have some consistency. Ted Kennedy didn't get as influential as he was by being replaced every 4 years. We could use someone to have the cache that multiple terms brings.

And you want it to be this clown?

Personally, I wouldn't say that he's inferior. As Republicans go, I kind of like him.

However, in my view, he's batting for the wrong team, and if him winning gives the GOP/Tea Party control of the Senate then he's got to go down. Period.

Just think of it this way, folks... if today's Republican party were in control of the Senate, can you just imagine how insane the appointment of federal judges would be?

And if you think the last two years of gridlock was bad, just give the GOP the Senate and you'll see new lows for gridlock.

And do you seriously think, for a minute, that the Tea Party loons who are running the show in the GOP now would give an ounce of influence to a moderate Republican?

I can understand that cause we have as far back as I can remember always had a strong voice in Washington. But it comes at a price, Ted had too much influence so his policy's were gold in many ways. As a kid that went through Bostons busing in the 70's I have always had a problem with career politicians.

I've asked it before. Why do many conservatives/Republicans have such a seeming resentment of/for education?

Just for the record I am an Independent. From the link you posted and kinda what I feel is going on is they ( Republicans ) are kinda downplaying the need of having a college education in order to make it in today's society.

IMHO, You can skip college and go to a local Tech school for way better than half the price and get a degree in say auto mechanics. If you are good at it you can make 70 grand + a year easy. The day's of having to go to college are over as I see it. Now don't get me wrong education is prime but what they are saying is if you can't afford it, there are other alternatives to be successful.

Tim :)
