So, you've never actually had one attack you, have you? Because their spurs about three feet long and have rotating, serated blades at the end.

With flamethrowers. An' stuff.

WHile it may be the only one this year, the poster actually has the right idea- this isn't the first time this has happened in Northern communities.

"Keith was the third child mauled by dogs in northern Saskatchewan in the past two years. In 2007, a five-year-old boy on the Cumberland House First Nation reserve died after in an unprovoked attack by five dogs."

This article goes on to talk about the weird (to me) relationship between packs of dogs and the inhabitants of these northern communities. I read about something similar in the Walrus a while ago, about sled dogs in the NWT.

That was just your drunken hallucination. Until you see one of those in real life, however, you don't know their secret weapon is throwing marbles at you. I saw one yesterday. I still have some of the marbles, though I probably lost them all by now...

They're just the avant-garde. It's the wiener dogs rule the woods.

I immediately thought of this.
 
The picture of the cute beagle puppies kind of deflects from the fact that the adult dogs are a fair size and perfectly capable of doing damage. They're a breed not noted for viciousness, but they are known for a complete, total and utter lack of brain. I wouldn't care to encounter a pack of the things that were doing what comes naturally.

Corgis, on the other hand, are known for "bite first and ask questions afterwards."

Based on my experience of living with a housemate's beagle, they also have the most powerful "chase anything that moves" instinct in the animal kingdom.;)
