Satanic Sculpture at Illinois Statehouse.

Yup. BTW, that's the most Reverend Dr Thermal, soon to be founder of the Church of the Swinging Johnson. Look for my totally sincere and truly dickish sculptures at a religious celebration near you!

Possibly while eating poor people.

They call out the obvious satire?

Eta: or they eat poor people? I may not grok your observation well, as I'm not sure who is apologeticing.

Bolded: No, I don't make that claim. Have you heard of the POTUS? Fox News? Evangelicals? THEY make that claim. 10 People worldwide? Even as hyperbole this is laughably wrong.

On the flip side, you are painting Christian inclusiveness unrealistically. Christians being inclusive through force of law does not equal being inclusive.

I would attribute this difference of opinion to differences in our experiences and outlook, but you seem to live in a world that has little in common with mine, or most of the folks in this thread for that matter.
*That may be true. I keep hearing about how rotten xians are, and how they declare war on Starbucks over their cups. Just never saw it. I wonder how much of it is all hype and rhetoric, and how much is real. Do you feel that you have been metaphorically attacked by Christians, or is it more the history and reporting from elsewhere?

I may see some of the reasons for our different perceptions of the world. You ignore these basic examples of exactly what we're talking about and go to Starbucks cups. Are you really not hearing Christians lament on their persecution and torment by the minority? Of course, that's just the President of these United States bravely looking out for the poor Christians. And Fox just has the highest cable news viewership in America.

We on this forum know it's the Satanists right to an equal display, which you call a dick move. To at least some Christians:

Christianity Under Attack Again this Christmas as Satanists Erect Forbidden Fruit and Serpent Displays on Capital Grounds and Atheists Force Local Officials to Remove Nativity Displays. Gosh, such inclusiveness warms the heart.

Reading this article gave me a whole new perception on dick moves and attitudes. This may have motivated me to make a donation to support a noble cause.

* Hopefully to put original highlights by Thermal into context.

In case anyone wonders about the website Beelzebuddy links, here is their self-description.

American Center for Law and Justice is a d/b/a for Christian Advocates Serving Evangelism, Inc., a tax-exempt, not-for-profit, religious corporation as defined under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, specifically dedicated to the ideal that religious freedom and freedom of speech are inalienable, God-given rights. The Center's purpose is to engage legal, legislative and cultural issues by implementing an effective strategy of advocacy, education and litigation to ensure that those rights are protected under the law. The organization has participated in numerous cases before the Supreme Court, Federal Court of Appeals, Federal District Courts, and various state courts regarding freedom of religion and freedom of speech.

Highlight and bolding mine.

There is ab initio, an assumption that a god exists, that the god is the Christian one, and that evangelism is part of the mission of the parent organization. Furtehrmore, there is a tacit refusal to recognize that non-religion is a valid choice.

Where are you finding that?

My question is, why do so at that time and place, if not to simply be a douche? I get that they are not celebrating. Fine. Whatever. But then why insert yourself in a celebration and refuse to celebrate? It's stupid...

Tbf, maybe it's a vegan thing? Insert yourself into a group of friends going out to dinner and make fun of all of them.

Free speech is a god-given right that if you exercise it in any of several ways god then demands you be killed for it.

If the serpent & apple sculpture seems to be too much of a poke at Christians (Please note that Genesis is also part of the Torah), what would you prefer they substitute? The traditional inverted pentacle behind a statue of Baphomet? I think they're being quite polite by putting up a display that doesn't make the place look like a cheesy heavy metal album.

I've always had a fondness for Belphegor, historically the demon behind good ideas that come to you at quiet moments, like when you're in the shower or on the toilet.

On this I am in wholehearted agreement, but not in the way you intended. We'll get there:

You ignore these basic examples of exactly what we're talking about and go to Starbucks cups.

I'm still laughing. You linked an article about the POTUS, when he was not yet the POTUS. Know why he wasn't the POTUS? Your article was from 2015. You know what else happened in 2015? The red Starbucks cup debacle! You know who was crowing about boycotting Starbucks over it? You guessed it: the future POTUS.

https://www.cnn.com/2015/11/09/politics/donald-trump-starbucks-boycott-christmas/

So you scoff at my example about Starbucks cups, while citing a 2015 article featuring the not-POTUS who called for a ban on the Starbucks cups, during the very year of the Starbucks cup fiasco. I really am enjoying this.

Are you really not hearing Christians lament on their persecution and torment by the minority? Of course, that's just the President of these United States bravely looking out for the poor Christians. And Fox just has the highest cable news viewership in America.

Yep, Fox has the highest viewership. But much like President Trump (*leans in conspiratorially*), I don't look to either for accurate information about anything. They do not reflect what I hear in the real world.

And that is exactly why we have, as you say, different perceptions of the world. I do not get mine from ******* Fox news, or anything they say. Nor does Trump's campaign bluster from three years ago affect my experience. He also ranted about birtherism. You know what? That horse**** was not the way I experience the world either.

We on this forum know it's the Satanists right to an equal display, which you call a dick move.

For the hundredth time, NO. How many times do I have to say that they had the right and I know this and support it? But people can legally be dicks. Shocking, but it's true.

Never heard of that group. Are they important or something, or just random internet squawkers? If they are no one of any particular consequence, then so what? Want me to collect the random brain farts of other groups from around the web?

Tbf, maybe it's a vegan thing? Insert yourself into a group of friends going out to dinner and make fun of all of them.

I would have picked TST as carnivores, but the vegan analogy is spot-Mephistopholen-on. And no one, but no one, finds vegans to be dicks at a steak dinner.

Oh my gawd! You're totally right, Trump hasn't referenced anything like this while POTUS. Your in such denial your completely lost in the woods now.

Yep, Fox has the highest viewership. But much like President Trump (*leans in conspiratorially*), I don't look to either for accurate information about anything. They do not reflect what I hear in the real world.
The link was not TO Fox News, it was ABOUT Fox News, so you are dismissing an article from another source because Fox is known to lie. That Fox is ginning it up is the point. You're making a fool of yourself, so go on laughing.

How is

functionally different from

This is why we're going in circles.

Never heard of that group. Are they important or something, or just random internet squawkers? If they are no one of any particular consequence, then so what? Want me to collect the random brain farts of other groups from around the web?

Jesus.

42 million people voted for the POTUS. A ******** of them were evangelicals who wanted to stop the war on Christmas and the persecution of Christians. You can ignore the POTUS and the evangelicals but they don't go away. They are being dicks.

ACLJ are not "random internet squawkers." They take legal action on behalf of poor abused Christians. The article demonstrates how they are being dicks about the Satanic display, offering legal help. Look around, there are other articles that are worse. You can ignore this group and the real world consequences of their legal actions but they don't go away. They are being dicks.

Fox News has viewership of 2,829,000, and as the reference article indicates, they are ginning up the war on Christmas. You can not watch them and ignore their impact on society but that impact is real. They are being dicks.

You go right ahead ignoring the delusional POTUS, lying Fox News, hypocritical evangelicals, the ACLJ, and other similar people and groups so you can join them in calling the Satanists dicks. You're in fine company.
