As I said (somewhere): If she was covering for her daughter, then there may be a backlash of sympathy. It still raises the question of judgment, for Palin for not disclosing this to McCain and expecting it not to come out once the media spotlight comes on and for McCain for inadequately vetting her before picking her.
Oh, I've had several years to vote uselessly against 'McCain the Arizona Senator from Cornville'.
I don't like the guy much but he does have some political skillz.
When I say 'personality issues', he has earned a rep of being a bully. McCain is a little sexist, not badly so, but enough to treat a woman VP with deference. That makes him look more Presidential, so all good from his pov.
On Palin's 'judgment', if this "scandal" turns out to be true, the news conference the Dems would be slavering for would probably feature her attractive but naive 16 year old daughter in tears, confessing that the Downs baby was really hers and that her mother was acting as a loving mom caring for a wayward 16 year old and a child she could not raise. We might even be treated to a short apology about her having previously thought that these were personal matters and the meddling goberment had no right to be prying.
