Rush Limbaugh checks out at 70...

Definitely, and those who come after are at least as bad, or worse, and they have counterparts on the left.

There was a phase in the '90s when one of his favorite targets was "moderates", and he said the word as if it had those quote marks around it. He though everyone should be all conservative, all the time, and the lukewarm right-wingers were the worst of all.

Hilarious.

I am sure his family will miss him but he was a turd and will now be flushed.

"I've never wished a man dead, but I have read some obituaries with great pleasure."

- Mark Twain

I find little comfort in the thought that Rush was not stupid enough to believe some of his lies, or that once upon a time he was not the mendacious turd he became later. That just makes him worse as far as I'm concerned. A greedy hypocrite lying for the cause of greater stupidity.

I'm no fan of cancer or of pain, and would have been just as pleased if he had died in his sleep, but I'm not at all sorry he's gone.

We have this meta-discussion everytime someone of note dies.

It's simple. I squared the moral conundrum for myself a long time ago.

I'm happy Rush Limbaugh has stopped hurting people with his words.

The fact that it took his death to stop him from doing that was up to him.

This thread should be in Members Only so we can describe him in appropriate language.

Pity it took so long.

He hid it well, or else you saw something I didn't.

Perhaps he was well-informed about things that fit his perspective and quite ignorant otherwise.

He knew a lot of pieces of information. He spent hours every day reading newspapers or web sites (depending on which part of his career) and making sure he knew the news of the day, so he could yap about it.

People can run on and on about a subject and put together whole sentences and even use big words on topics that they simply do not understand at all. People can make firm, solemn declarations on science, economics, or sports almost as if they had a clue about those subjects. In the last 12 months we have been exposed to length discussions of virology and of constitutional law by people who clearly had absolutely no knowledge of virology or constitutional law. They just repeat something they've heard with no real thought. It supports what I want to believe, so I can say it and make it sound real.

Rush was like that, in my opinion. He didn't have a clue what he was talking about. He could repeat the phrases, but there was no comprehension. I have barely heard his show in the last year, since I stopped working at the office, but on one of the last shows I listened to, he explained that the coronavirus was just the common cold. He didn't mean it was no worse than the common cold. he said it was the common cold. And he said it like he meant it, and he repeated some words he had heard related to the word "coronavirus", and it made him sound quite intelligent, if you were no more intelligent than he was.

I just don't think he was very smart.

I feel sorry for his family.
Not for him.
I guess the question is... why?

I mean, Rush Lymphnode wasn't leading some sort of double life... his actions (mocking parkonson's sufferers, spreading conspiracy theories, engaging in homophobic rhetoric, etc.) were well known to the general public, so they would not have been a surprise to the negative aspects of his existence.

So if his wife stuck with him, she must have at least approved of what he was saying/doing.

Even when I listened to him back in 1988 or so, I think he'd already had several wives, and I believe they all had to sign non-disclosure agreements when they divorced him in order to keep their settlements.

He always struck me as a bit of a sad figure, really.

I won't be a hypocrite and say I'm sorry he'll no longer be spewing his crap. I feel sorry for his family as I'm sure they loved him but he was a POS.

Which ones, the ones he walked out on? Or maybe the woman he cheated on while she was undergoing cancer treatment?

Hmmm, Rush claimed to be pro-life, and yet he died.

Hypocrisy much?

I have always found the pro-life meme to be ironic.

The only life they seem to be pro for is human embryonic life...

Once it's hatched all is fair..

War, executions, lack of medical services, nutrition .. It goes on and on..

And that's just human life.. Forget about animals and the general well being of the environment..
