Running for local office...

That's nothing. You should ask him about global trade and UFOs sometime.

Wasn't he the idiot who saw flying saucers in the background of Renaissance paintings? Or was that a different idiot?

How about finding them now and using those specifics in your campaign?

Great! How?

Again, how?

People are used to campaign promises. They want to know if you can deliver.

KOA - You may want to consider that shanek has gotten his ass thoroughly kicked several times while running for dog catcher in Bumblefkuc, NC. So take his advice with a grain of salt.

My money is on a worse performance this time than last. 18 votes with twice that many friends & relatives in town?
I'll take that bet. Remember, last time he was a write-in candidate. Just having your name on the ballot guarantees a number of votes from the "anybody but the incumbant" crowd, plus the "I don't know any of these guys, so I'll just pick one" crowd (also known as "lottery addicts").

I believe his preferred nomenclature was "chariots of the gods," but yup, that's the same guy.

All things being equal, I would completely agree. But KOA has managed to buck conventional statistical wisdom before. Since last go around, I presume he's been out there making an ass... er, I mean a name for himself, and probably done himself no favors.

Besides, he's shown no evidence that his gripes with local goverment are shared by many - or any - other voters. This is a small town, remember, with I think less than 500 votes last time. The incumbents will have friends and family too.

My prediction is rooted in my assumption that even KOA's 17 friends and family members won't bother this time around, especially now that they'll be on the record as voting for a confirmed lunatic. They may stay at home, but either way I see an even more dismal performance.

That's the one thing that worries me, btw. Last time, KOA was borderline suicidal with grief. A second trouncing may not be the best thing for him, mental healthwise.

Tricky, how much did we bet on this again?

Don't want to be an I-told-you-so, but I friggin' told you so!

Looks like the bluehairs didn't quite connect with KOA's message.

Edited to add: Psiload, you should have included the information that all city council members ran unopposed. Too bad KOA only knows how to start at the top, right?

Heh heh heh... "I could SO do this job." Funny, that was days ago and still no concession speech!

Probably because he couldn't answer that one vital question: "How?"

Shane, you're a very bright guy and I admire your principled stands. We rarely agree but I have high regard for your methods and aims.

But if you think KOA got his lazy ass kicked from Dallas to El Paso and back because he lacked some nuance in his communications, I think you need to spend a little more time corresponding with him.

His innumerable personality problems will soon become evident, if they haven't already. The guy is literally a borderline schizo, and that's why he get wiped out. I wasn't kidding up there when I said I feared for his continued well-being after such a drubbing... I sincerely hope he's simply in seclusion and not getting embalmed right now. It's not like we didn't try to warn him, after all.

Randee of the Redwoods and Spuds McKenzie were more viable contenders than KOA will ever be. Since he refuses to seek help, take his meds, or whatever the hell keeps him away from the physical plane you and I inhabit, he'd better get used to being a laughingstock.

He has a choice. He just won't do the right thing.

Perhaps. Personality can play a big role, too. But I don't have any knowledge of his personality to be able to speak to any effect that might have had. I just saw him promising to do all sorts of things, and clam up whenever he was asked how he would actually do it. That's not good, no matter what your personality is.

True dat. I think the one is an example of the other.

Hmm, over a week has passed and still no after-action report from KOA.

Hell, Al Gore got over it faster than this.

How about just keeping the roads patched and such? No one is going to vote for you in hopes of becoming a paragon of your silly little utopia.
Sheepishly, :D

Well, in fairness, I clearly overstated my position on the matter. ELEVEN people would vote for his silly little version of utopia. Of course, by Jim Jones standards, that's not even enough people to warrant opening a second packet of Kool-Aid.
