If you want, but the fact that he caused so much **** with his first challenge kind of demonstrates his incompetence.
The Labor party's problems are of it's own making, and Gillard has tried to deal with them the best she can in a very delicate situation.
* The HSU. This union has been at war with itself for many years, and the corruption was a major part of that. The Labor Party as a whole did not deal with it then, and is reaping the results of that inaction now. Not Gillards doing, but there is a potential for a loss of a seat there if it can't be dragged out for the next year and a half. Problem, need an extra vote in parliament now, because you don't know how this will pan out.
* Pokies. The NSW branch in particular seems to be unable to do anything what what the pokie industry orders it to. Wilkie walks, technically, Labor can't survive a no confidence notion, although Wilkie would be mad to vote for one, he has shown before he will walk if he wants to (when he quit his job because the Iraq invasion). Once again, next an vote.
*Slipper. Need an extra vote, preferably two. He will have to do, not because Gillard wants him, but because the Labor party itself has forced this choice on her.
So, now that this is a mess, why blame Gillard. The party itself is leaking again to the press. They can find someone to blame, but cannot take responsibility for their own actions, which have been in large part to blame.
Abbot is not superman, if they man up to him, they stand a better chance than if they do what he tells them to do, which would be the ultimate humiliation, because they will lose either way.
I say just go for it, and bring in gay marriage as well.
