Btw. When you Americans call someone an ass - what does that usually mean - that they are the buttocks? (Your reference.)

Look, can we just stick to the real business of reminding everyone what an idiot Reagan was, and how it was, perhaps, the darkest day in American history when he was elected.
The Presidency was no more about electing a person of ability, even if you disagreed with his politics. Tricky Dicky, a criminal, but at least one who could understand the complexity of the world. Carter, naive perhaps, but a clever man, and one who tried to run the USA in an educated way. Clinton, once again, a clever man, and a good showman, who actually tried to run the show.
With Reagan, it was now about electing an actor, someone who could make you feel good with soothing words. It was no longer about ability. People feel that Carter made people disrespect the USA, it was Reagan. The amount of covering up of what a fraud, charlatan, fool, ignoramus, etc, this man was, is amazing.
The Conservatives know what a disgrace the man was, hence the concerted campaign to create an endless list of 'Reagan' monuments. His acts were never his own, his thoughts likewise. He was a naive clown. There is nothing to show for his time in office. He happened to be around when the Soviet Union finally imploded. Someone had to be there then. If Carter had been re-elected, he would have got the acclaim. The starwars fraud was only ever that. He never had the capacity to understand that it was just one more example of the military/industrial complex dipping it's hand in the pocket of the taxpayer for absolutely no purpose whatsoever.
If Carter had fallen asleep during an important conference, for example, it would have been all over the front pages, never to be forgotten. Reagan did it habitually. He never tried to master his office. He could only ever resort to platitudes, and not even the 'professional' ones, that we expect from politicians.
Show me *one* example of Reagan as an innovative thinker, a creater. Not the speech reader, the campaigner, the politician at the photo ops. I mean Reagan the man. You can find many historical items from just about any past president of the modern era. Reagan, in contrast, is just an empty shell, someone who has to have monuments created post-hoc to leave a legacy.
