"You cannot be tried twice for the same crime".
This is what I always thought and still believe.
However, I am not a lawyer.
The crime - does this belief of mine, erroneous as it may be, only apply to Federal crimes?
Does this have something to do with "All States are Sovereign"?
Can I be held innocent in State Court but be sued in the local District or County courts?
If I am innocent then when am I fully innocent?
When does "You didn't do it" finally become "You didn't do it and that's it!". Final. Full-Stop. End of story?
Or is there some provision in the law that says I can be hounded for the rest of my life even though a court says I'm innocent? Where is that provision?
I hate to appeal to any lawyers who read this forum but if you could never get any fee for hounding a person who has been found "not guilty" would you take the case? [Of course not - I'm only teasing you...
