STOP ROBBIE THOMAS now on Google's Front Page

Well, I think the debate on whether or not StopRobbieThomas.com is on Google's front page just got another shot in the arm.

I also checked in on Firefox and <shudder> IE8. All of them sit just under the Robbie Thomas's site.

But we shan't let up now. Remember to continue to add the links to our posts.

Google's engine uses a relevancy system. A site can get much higher rankings for a particular keyword if there are more sites containing that keyword that are linking to it.

So the best way to up the ranking is to put up more web sites, put "Robbie Thomas" in the meta tags and include a link to StopRobbie.com on every page. Affiliate marketing programs use this to their advantage. By becoming an affiliate, you bolster their rankings and they collect more AdSense revenue. Check out this page for an example, more like this will help a lot. You can see where I use his name all in the description, title, subdomain, and body, along with several links to StopRobbie.

It will be tough to rank above RobbieThomas.com though, the domain name being an exact match to the keyword is a huge relevancy point. You may not be able to outrank him, but #2 should be entirely possible.

Speaking of number two, I gotta go!

While I would be the first in line to create parodies in an attempt to humiliate those who are in need of being shown as the charlatans they are, I advise caution in becoming a bulletin board for just any silly image. There is a certain level of seriousness that is needed at StopRobbie.com, and I would rather see it as something more along the lines of StopSylvia.com than 4chan.org.

Personally, I think you should use the American mispleling. After all, Robbie Thomas can't seem to spell the names of the people he allegedly helps.

Until the case is settled, I'm going to have to shut down www.stoprobbie.com. It is our hope that we will be victorious and that we will be able to bring the website back up but that is doubtful. Keep in mind that Robbie has psychic powers and he predicts that he is going to win. Fighting a battle that you know you are going to lose is like watching a pre-taped boxing match and betting on the boxer that (you know) is going to lose.

It's a sad day when skepticism gets shut down by lawsuits.

I'm no lawyer, but I can't fathom how Robbie could possibly have a valid case. Still, I would personally not risk my own livelihood fighting one douchebag in court. Skepticism is fun and rewarding, but not worth it when it leaves the internet and enters a courtroom.

On the other hand, if you could find a lawyer skeptic to take up your case pro bono, it would be a great victory for skepticism to win your case and maybe even instigate a criminal investigation into his activities.

What case? Is the lawyer actually going to court to prove that his client's got psychic abilities? If he can do that, then he may just win that Randi $1Million prize!

I don't think so, ALL psychics are frauds.

I can't say that Robbie wrote that response to me but it came from his email address to me - and it was a response to my offer (weeks ago) to post his (unedited) response to John Ramses.

That is what he sent me, so I posted it for him. That is, obviously, what he wanted everyone to know.

Robbie's attorney (keep in mind that this is simply a claim from Robbie at this point - I know you would be surprised to hear that Robbie Thomas might be lying about that) is a legitimate and respected attorney. I believe my company has even used Lerners in the past. The fact that he is a respected attorney makes me think that it probably isn't a legitimate claim by Robbie (the claim that he has hired him to sue me).

Robbie's claim against me (if it exists) is not likely about whether or not he has psychic abilities. (I'm only guessing here) I'd suspect he's going to try suggesting that we've committed "libel" or we are wrongly defaming him.

I've been told by Robbie's camp that I was being sued before. I still haven't received those papers.

If I found the correct lawyer, he seems too hoity toity to represent the likes of Robbie Thomas. (I have not confirmed this is the correct one. I am assuming you have not received an official notice from the lawyer's office)

And it seems he would more likely go after John Ramses first. I would contact Mr. Ramses to see if he received a similar missive. If he hasn't, he likely will. And maybe let anyone else who might want to know about the letter he sent.

I cannot believe that his lawyer would approve of Mr. Thomas sending out a threatening letter such as that (and with multiple cringe-worthy misspellings). Maybe you can forward it to him to show that he might have made a gigantic mistake in choosing to represent this particular client. Clients who can't shut up and do what their lawyers tell them to do are extra work for the lawyer.

And most of these types of threats of lawsuit are just to scare you into backing down without the expense of preparing a case and filing. They assume most people will stop. And when you fight back, then they actually have to prove their case. If you can find a lawyer friend or friend of a friend to contact Mr. Ian Leach, I would do so. Mr. Leach has no case and I doubt he is expecting a real trial. Another lawyer involved makes it worse.

Yeah Calculon, the general consensus here is that Robbie is just talking smack, his usual game. I talked to someone savvy in legalese, and in order to make a libel or defamation suit, Robbie must establish that the defendant conveyed false and defamatory words to a 3rd party that directly resulted in damage to his reputation, and then somehow quantify that damage into a dollar amount.

No such verbiage exists on StopRobbie.com, so this is clearly a case of empty threats. In fact, I think it would be wise to contact this attourney and say something to the order of:

Mr. Leach, a man named Robert Poulson (aka Robbie Thomas) has contacted me in regards to my web site, stoprobbie.com, and advised me that he has established a client-attourney relationship with you and conveyed his intention to file a libel suit against me. If this is the case, I have not yet received official notice from your office and I would like to acquire this documentation as soon as possible. Given that all of my internet postings are done anonymously, I am sure it would be helpful to you to have my address. Please send copies of all pertinent documents to:

<insert address>

For your records, I have also attached the body of the email I received from Mr. Poulson regarding this case, in the event that he did not CC you on this particular transmission.

If you get lucky, Mr. Leach might just get a notion to go after Robbie for falsely involving his name in such a scandalous matter. Wouldn't that be peachy :)
