Repel Sharks With Magnets?

Sounds interesting- I'd give an arm and a leg for a chance to test it. Does it come with a life-time warranty?

It is recommended to wear a cup while swordfighting. I do not, because the first time I did, many years ago, someone hit me in the nuts.

I think that's pretty much the same logic that's being displayed in the OP.

The analogy doesn't tie. The bracelet is supposed to keep sharks from attacking you. It didn't do what is was specifically designed, and marketed, to do.

A cup isn't supposed to keep you from being hit in the groin. It's designed to minimize severe injury when you are hit. In fact, you wear a cup because you expect to be hit in the groin eventually, and you still want to be able to have children later.

The op is saying the product failed in its intended purpose, which would seem to be the case since he was bitten while wearing it.

Like all analogies, the correspondence is not perfect. Your criticism of my analogy is fair.

There's some truth to magnets repelling sharks. The experiment was not to see if sharks would be repelled, but to see if sharks could sense a magnetic field. The shark species that unwittingly participated did sense the static magnetic field and was repelled, however the magnets used were large in size, not something one would wear. Would this work on all potentially dangerous species was not tested. Also as noted the sharks got within inches of these magnets before turning away. As for the Skarkbanz that's a grandiose claim.

Sharks, How do they work?

I don't want to hear from some Ichthyologist. They be lying and ****.

"Sharkbanz special patented magnetic technology"
The perfect product - for the seller:

Until you are attached by sharks, you can't ask for your money back.
After you are eaten by sharks, you can't ask for your money back.

Plenty of people survive shark attack.

Not many people who buy the product would be attacked by sharks. So even if they gave a full refund to everyone who was wearing their device when they were attacked they would still make a handsome profit.
