She was, from my vague memory, fairly sane for a US politician; favoured health care reform, Federal funding of stem cell research, space exploration and alternate energy sources. Seemed to be pro-science, which is probably why I remembered her. Married to an astronaut.

But isn't that why we have a second amendment according to many people?

I seem to remember a "well regulated militia" part being in there.
