Religious moderates cause religious extremists

well I am not trying to hijack th thread but this is actually on topic about extremism and moderation...

I will assume you just missed my post about my children having the EVIDENCE of their own experience to debunk one of your silly attacks...as to the rest it all falls down on the premise that I should have respect for STUPID ideas...that stupid ideas do not deserve contempt....should I respect the idea of TRANSUBSTANTIATION? When my kids see a communion ceremony on TV or hear about it and say what do they mean that the wine becomes blood and the wafer a body? Is your argument that I should just respect these ludicrous ideas? How about astrology, homeopathy, ghosts? How about the idea that Aryans are superior to other races? Are any ideas ludicrous enough to deserve any scorn in the GM household? In ours we have some standards and the main one as I have repeatedly tried to get GM to see--is that rationality and evidence matter---and the evidence is pretty clear that I have failed miserably...no rational thought has yet emanated back--

Extreme atheism is not the issue---intolerance of irrationality is--and that intolerance can take a RATIONAL form--it can and should be based on reason and cause and effect...in other words trying to FORCE rationality is not rational...it does not work...look at poor GM he won't be forced to post a rational thought based on anything I actually wrote--no matter how much I try to get him to--(still waiting for the part where I INSIST as you said I do- that my children believe a certain way--they are exposed to my way and they are exposed to the whole world too--they are not home schooled and isolated from other viewpoints)

I suppose one could argue that challenging irrational people like GM is not productive,..this is a reasonable argument--i can see that it has been wasted in this case for sure...as I said the questions to me seem to be very clear

Is it desirable to have a more RATIONAL world?
If yes, what is the best way to achieve a more RATIONAL world?

I do not pretend to have the answers -I am struggling with this--and unlike the bigots and others that GM tries to lump me with- I am open to EVIDENCE that I have gotten something wrong...evidence--not personal attacks.

And I've quoted piece after piece after piece. You've done none of that. Just continued to whine about how unfair I am.
Well, I guess it's true folks, you can lead a horse to water....

GM-

you have indeed quoted me--you just have not provided a single quote that in anyway substantiates your accusations...you said

"Fun2B wants and needs his kids to believe as he does without any sort of thought towards the matter "

then you offer this quote of mine as evidence:
"I for one give no money to any religous charity, attend no religous services, support no religious causes...in my own house there is no respect for religion,....I confess- I do indeed have contempt for it.... "

I fail to see how that quote proves your premise--I confess to wanting--guilty I want my children to think rationally about ideas and not accept any idea just because it is popular....

BUT where does it say I NEED this--where is it that there is no thought towards the matter --or that the kids must follow what I say?

If this is your idea of evidence it is no wonder you have a hard time seeing why those who demand evidence have a hard time accepting ideas such a angels, ghosts, gods, etc...

You still have not answered how my wanting my children to have the EVIDENCE of their own EXPERIENCE with religion( which I predict they will find to be a negative experience) is a BAD thing by any criteria ----you just say it is bad without any rational argument-- that is the sort of thing the religious nuts say about things like being gay...it's bad because it says so in the BIBLE ....if I were as Gm tries to portray would I not go along with them to sit by them and mock the whole thing the whole time? As for being supportive and open to discussion that is the whole point--this is POLITICAL CORRECTNESS at its worst...all ideas are NOT equally valid regardless of their lack of rationality...I do indeed reject such the mindless philosophy of POLITICAL CORRECTNESS--if that is what GM supposes is reasonable-let us just agree that we define reasonable differently....so mr GM--I have asked you: Are there any ideas that are not worthy of respect in your world? Do you have any standards whatsoever? Mine are very consistent -ideas presented without evidence are not believable, to earn respect an idea must have some evidence behind it. You have yet to provide any

I have a question about evidence.

What evidence do you have that supports the assertion that I am male?
