I live near DC, so I'll be there. There is so much to see that you may want to either focus on one or two things or not plan on spending more than 5 minutes at any one place.

Ft. Meade is about a 45 minute (or more) drive from central DC, so I'd recommend visiting sites around (in walking- or metro-distance to) the National Mall. If you're into museums or monuments, you won't need to walk more than a mile away from the Washington Monument to see dozens of noteworthy sights.

Interested in attending, but concerned about possible personal and social consequences. Will probably wimp out.

I decided to pop my name onto the list, because I now know that I am going to this thing.

Though, I have not booked the hotel quite yet. I might do so tonight. I was considering the Hyatt Regency on Capitol Hill, since it's close by. Any advice on this, before I do so?

Holiday Inn. Good plan that's one way of ensuring Scrut is in a different hotel.

Reservations made! Booked hotel (Holiday Inn) and Amtrak tickets...

...and I'll be bringing my mom along, too! Though, she probably won't stay at the rally. She has a list of a bunch of things she wanted to see in D.C.

I'm a little confused about this. are all the events taking place outdoors? DC in march can be really unpleasant. I never find being wet and cold much fun.

Yes. On the National Mall.

But look at the bright side - there will be lots of stores for shopping!

You certainly don't want to do it in the summer. My guess is that it should be around 60 degrees that day (on average).

Is anyone bringing any signs? I am trying to decide what mine should say. I want it to be humorous, but sophisticated and not corny.
(I would have been willing to go with corny at the Sanity/Fear rally. But, I didn't go to that one.)

Take my word for it-- DC in March can get nasty. Prolly there are tents and such to keep folks dry.
