Questions on Mormons

Exactly. Mormons don't like to mention polygamy although they beleive polygamy will return to the religion in the future.

How about the "long-term friends" and "bleeding the beast"?

Closeted gays have "best buds."

That's the second time you've used the term "bleeding the beast."

I hadn't heard it before, but Googling it only comes up with references to some purported means of getting money from the government.

Does it mean something else?

Hi everybody,
I recently joined the JREF forums after many years of reading randi.org. Recently Debunk started a thread that sort of touched on Mormons and their beliefs and some questions re: those beliefs. I was a member for many years so I can answer A LOT about it.
If any of you have questions, step right up and be amazed and the convoluted mess of ideas propogated by the "Only True Church". Yes, that is how they refer to themselves, pompous isn't it?
Hey Just Me,

I'm the current resident Mormon expert and I will kindly ask you to respect my authority.... mmmmkay?!

:) Welcome.

And that there will be polygamy in heaven. It takes a lot of wives to breed spirit children.

Maybe you haven't asked them the right question.

The Mormon church is definitely in support of polygamy in theory. They do not think it weird, kooky or unnatural.

It is currently forbidden by the (main) LDS church only because Mormons are supposed to obey the laws of their country.

This is how it was explained to me by a fairly knowledgeable Mormon, anyway.

So, if a Mormon thinks polygamy itself is "kooky," they do not understand the church's position on it.
If I had to venture a guess based on anecdotal evidence (debates at Mormon get-togethers, church and family reunions) it would be that:

1.) Most Mormon women find the idea abhorrent in theory but accept that it was gods commandment at one time.

2.) Mormon men are less likely to find it abhorrent and accept it in theory.
