I don't worry about my identity being stolen when I prove my age at a bar. If you don't want to prove your age, you're welcome not to use the service. I assume that discretion will still be a selling point in that establishments wanting to stay in business wouldn't make a practice of allowing client identities to leak.

Situation 2: You cannot successfully pretend to be legitimate business because no legitimate business is possible.

Must I repeat that I am not particularly defending this practice?

And situation 2 is a lot harder to verify if improper working practices are actually occurring because inspection is much harder.

In Thailand, the age of consent is 15 but the minimum age for prostitution is 18. I do not want to see people under 18 choosing prostitution. Most are not mature enough or lack the judgement to make a decision with such far reaching consequences.

ETA: In Brazil, the split is 14 and 18. Other South American counties have similar differences.

Don't a lot of countries have age of consent laws for sex that are lower than their overall threshold for people turning into adults. Can 15 year olds join the military service in your country? Are they allowed to drive unsupervised?
