Proof of God

Read John 8:2-11 where Jesus is brought an adulterer by the Pharisees and is told that under the old law she must be stoned to death for her sin. Jesus did not condone stoning her to death as the old law would have dictated, he simply said "He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her." This is a clear example of Jesus repudiating the old law of Moses and substituting it for his new law of compassion and caring.

And adding to that there is a very substantial teaching in the New Testament about the "New Covenent." It's a covenant of the heart rather than one of religious laws.

I feel bad for trying to get Dustin to answer my question now, I fell into his performance art trap.

I still haven't ruled it out that he's not being serious.
I've known people to be like that.
And I was very conservative Christian myself once.

Either way, I should bow out of this fruitless engagement.
Bye-Cha!

What does 'paid attention to' mean in practice? It means you read it and don't put its words into practice?

Perhaps you should try asking him.

I don't even believe He exists, let alone the Bible has any validity in dictating moralilty or accurate history. But do you believe that God changed his mind on how men should behave towards immoral behaviour as history progressed?

I don't know. If he did, I don't know why.

I don't know.

Well, he must have. At one point in the Bible it's claimed that it's ok to stone somebody to death, and later Jesus says to forget that part. So, either a) God was wrong earlier, and Jesus corrected him, or b) God was right earlier, and circumstances changed, hence the rules changed so Jesus corrected it.

a) insinuates a God that can be wrong. b) insinuates circumstances which are beyond God's control, hence the rules must be adjusted according to them.

If he did, I don't know why.

Fair enough.
