Pressure Points/Kyusho Jutsu

GroundStrength,

I noticed your post on this forum from many years back now and saw you live in the Houston area. I too am close to Houston and have studied under Rick Moneymaker & Tom Muncy as well as Dr. Ed Hampton. I was wondering if you would like to meet up and discuss experiences about these arts. Under Rick & Tom I was one of the original eight core instructors for Dragon Society International. I believe that my experience will have something to offer you in your martial arts journey. And from what I have seen on your posts I am sure you will have much to contribute as well. Please let me know if you are still interested in these arts and would like to meet.

Sincerely,

Chris Brown.

The fellow sounded like a "true believer" who we might surmise became disenchanted with his "art"...
Since this thread there have been several spectacular and widely publicized failures of such techniques.

Ugh...

Just read the op and a few more in this thread.

It's crap.

I have a black belt in Karate and in JuJitsu. I have been in martial arts for just under 30 years... not just practicing but doing full contact mixed MA fights as well as teaching. So far I have never run into anyone who could KO me, or even hurt me above the discomfort level with these "special" attacks. I would challenge anyone, of whatever level of training, to hit my arm with empty hands and make me pass out. It's bunk and it really annoys people who practice or teach serious martial arts. (sorry for the rant, it's a pet peeve).

Much like faith healers and psychics, these people not only damage the reputation of the martial arts community but they prey on people who don't know enough to understand why it's wrong. The harm they do is not confined to just taking a fool's money. For example many women take such classes in the belief that it will help defend them should they need it. That confidence is sadly missplaced as they sometimes find out to their serious detriment. Obviously that applies to men as well as children.

I have met a few of those in the past. Failure is the least of their concern at that point, since I am not a kind or gentle debunker in this field.

Oh... here's a couple of neat videos on the subject. The second one is my favorite.

Great vids RobD. Indeed I have seen many claiming such incredible feats as these no touch knockouts and I have yet to see any that could perform them on me.

If anyone who has been around through the groundstrength era (if you can call it that) has his email would you send it my way. I would like to get with him and set him straight on this qi 气 stuff. Literally translated the character for qi consists of a character for steam and a character of rice meaning you get this vital energy from the air and food. How mysterious ;-) Note: the character for qi I used above is a simplified character which is only the steam portion of said character.
