Presidential Primaries 2012

Given his mental status, he would really be more comfortable in the Libertarian or Constitution Party. (Even the GOP
has a limit on how guanophrenic you can be.)

And why have you not stricken the Arctic MILF from the list yet? There is no way she can make people believe she still has what it takes since she folded like she did as Gov.

Newt is making a lot more noise these days, so he may be about to make a serious run for it.

Fine with me. Converting to Catholicism is not going to make up for his zipper control problem.

The only major Republican who is thought to have a chance now of beating Obama is Mitt, and he is about as exciting as a mashed potato sandwich to any non-political-wonk.

After Obama drives the nation's economy into never-before-seen financial ruin and America grows complacent with the novelty of a black president, personality issues surrounding Romney will be far overshadowed by his proven financial skills.

Romney is too pro-corporation and too eager to reduce taxes on the upper income brackets and not pro-regulation. That's what got us into this mess in the first place. Do you think the American people are really that stupid?

But isn't a dead liberal what the Republicans would like to see as the Democrats candidate? :boxedin:

Unless your name is John Ashcroft.

(for those who don't get the reference, Ashcroft lost the 2000 Missouri Senate race to Mel Carnahan, a Democrat who died about a month before election day)

Keep hope alive!

I've been, and still am, in China on vaction. But recent events are important enough for me to log in and update the list.

Am I being hasty by striking Sarah Barracuda from the contender list? Meh... It's easy enough to unstrike her if she emits yet another world-shaking surprise.

You know what I love about Iowa (other than gay marriage)? It's provides a pristine environment for observing new entrants to this list.

Where's Fred Thompson?
Playing hide the Bratwurst with his lovely wife, and doing youtube clips.
i'm looking forward to a fresh cycle of ronulism. i'll probably regret thinking that way as 2012 approaches, though.
One can only hope.
John McCain to run again, after all he'll only be as old as if he'd won this time and was standing again. He couldn't, wouldn't would he?
Nope. He be done.
The Republican field will probably not include Palin or Jindal unless Obama really seems in trouble. They're young enough to wait for 2016. Most sitting presidents win reelection. If I had to put my money on anybody for the GOP nominee in 2012 it would be Romney.
See your comment on 2012. Mitt isn't stupid. He's not that old. I suspect he has a sense of timing as well.
Plus the fact that Jesus is dead.
How about he was not born in the United States of America, and his parents weren't American citizens? Dead is a secondary matter, see the Ashcroft reference elsewhere.

Romney probably won't run so it's between Palin and Huckabee. Of those two I think Huckers has a better chance.
Doubt it. Palin, by bailing out in Alaska, is not presidential material. I don't see here on the ticket next time.
Why can't I be president ?
You need to raise more money, starting now.
Romney won a straw poll at CPAC.
What, the GOP would run a strawman? (Yes, this is a straight line, anyone who wishes may supply a punch line.)
But isn't a dead liberal what the Republicans would like to see as the Democrats candidate? :boxedin:
Ashcroft for fifty, Alex. :p

2012 won't matter, since shortly after the election, the Mayans will invade and take over the planet as a staging base for their next phase of campaign against Xenu.

EDIT: hgc, just saw this. Iquitarod That made me chuckle.

Might want to add another possible on the Democratic side:

And, in fact, while the current secretary of State officially left politics on being sworn into the Obama administration's top diplomatic post and says future political office "is not anything that is at all on my radar screen," she's still got eight campaign workers on staff. She's also said, "I'm out of politics."

Hmmm. Note the present tense in that statement.

I agree. I already counted her out at the top of this page. I stand by Huckabee being the R's nominee for now.
