Presidential Primaries 2012

Again? Yes, again we remove R. Perry from our list of contenders.

Housekeeping: I'm also striking through a bevy of also-rans, they being C. "B." Roemer, F. Karger, R. Moore, T. McCotter and D. Duke (all new, frosty beard).

Would that make her the biggest idiot or the smartest idiot?

It would be her job to find the answer to that question... though I think N. Gingrich already lays claim to title of smartest idiot.

I can't wait for the SC primary to be over. I'm getting 3 or 4 robo-calls a night. It was funny when a Perry commercial came on last night right before the debate. Apparently he had already bought a bunch ad space before suspending his campaign.

I think it's time for another check at Intrade.
Here's where we were on Dec 15th:

And here's where we are today:

Romney: 78.7% +13.3%
Gingrich: 6.9% -13.7%
Huntsman: 4.5% -1.5%
Santorum: 4.0% +3.2%
Paul: 2.7% -5.2%
Perry: 1.5% -1.5%

Looks like nobody is being fooled by Santorum. For one thing he has no money to compete with Romney. Yes, his chances are slightly better today than they were two weeks ago, but he's still not likely to win the nomination.

Update time:
Romney: 70.6% -8.1%
Gingrich: 22.2% +15.3%
Paul: 4.0% +1.3%
Santorum: 0.8% -3.2%

Santorum looks like he'll come in fourth in SC despite his recent endorsement by evangelical leaders. Gingrich may win SC after all.

Perhaps.

My googling indicated that more whites than blacks receive SNAP & TANF, so why Williams got in a snit is unknown.

Yes, that is indeed a head-scratcher:
Newt Gingrich said:
And so, I’m prepared, if the NAACP invites me, I’ll go to their convention to talk about why the African American community should demand pay checks and not be satisfied with food stamps.

So, I guess the next question is how long will Santorum and Paul stay in this thing. And who is helped if they stay in or if they drop out.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Santorum drop, though maybe after his next showing.
Paul, I imagine, is in it for the long haul. He's not trying to become the candidate, he's trying to "get his message out there".

Yeah, I think that's right about Paul, although at some point he'll need to decide whether he wants to make a third-party run or not.
