Trump attacks 'awful' Scottish wind farms

Donald Trump urged Nigel Farage to campaign against wind farms in Scotland because he believes they "sully" the country's beauty, it has been claimed.

The president-elect, who fought against an offshore wind project near his Aberdeenshire golf resort, met Mr Farage in New York last week.

Mr Trump has now indicated that the subject of wind farms was brought up.

Leave EU campaigner Andy Wigmore, who was at the meeting, said Mr Trump was "offended" by wind turbines.

Last December the Supreme Court rejected Mr Trump's challenge to the offshore wind farm project near his Menie golf resort.

His company the Trump Organisation previously lost two legal bids in the Scottish courts after ministers approved proposals for an 11-turbine scheme which Mr Trump said would spoil the view from his course.

He took his case to the Supreme Court, where justices unanimously dismissed his appeal.

Given Trump's tendency to hold a grudge that could explain his pro-coal stance. He doesn't care about coal miners he just wants to teach those 'wind farmers' not to mess with him.

Donald Trump will apparently live alone in the White House while wife Melania and son Barron remain at the family's Trump Tower residence in New York City. This is from the Washington Post:
President-elect Donald Trump confirmed Sunday that future first lady Melania Trump and their 10-year-old son, Barron, will remain in New York after he becomes president... News link

Though it is reportedly "unprecedented" for a First Lady to not live in the White House the Trumps are reportedly saying it's because son Barron doesn't want to change schools.
Trump transition spokesman Jason Miller confirmed that there was “obviously a sensitivity to pulling out a 10-year-old in the middle of the school year.”

In other words, The Don will be living solo with his wife and son some 200+ miles away, in order that son "Barron" doesn't have to leave his school chums.

Really? ;)

Well from events so far I would say Ivanka is closer to filling the First Lady role than Melania.

He also tried by harassment and inducement to force homeowners in the area to sell their properties to him. So much for his being a champion of the little people. More like a nineteenth century landlord clearing smallholders off their property to create a sporting estate. See https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Forbes_(farmer).

Tax cuts are coming, especially a corporate income tax rate of 15%. And the elimination of the 3.8% Obamacare tax on investment income.
What's your prognosis for the deficit for, say, the next four years?

They're also responding to the fact that Trump's transition is going extremely well. He's putting very solid people around himself and mending fences with previous critics (at least the Republican ones). So far, I'm very encouraged, and I don't think I'm too different from the typical investor.

Preibus: No governmental experience
Sessions: Fox guarding the henhouse
Bannon: Right-wing extremeist
The lot of them: climate deniers

If that's "extremely well" I'll eat my shorts.

You say "mending fences". The truth is "going back on his campaign promises". How long will Trump's base put up with his flip-flopping?

Does holding the office of POTUS restrict that kind of statement in any way on the basis of the influence he will wield?
Don the Con demeans the Presidency by tweeting, no matter the content. However, in his case, 140 characters encompasses the entirety of his comprehension on any issue so I suppose for him tweeting is his equivalent of announcing public policy.

Just goes to show how many of the "unwritten rules" are based on personal integrity, decency and understanding. Trump is not capable of even feeling shame, incapable of taking criticism no matter how constructive nor slight, can never be wrong and he is ignorant.

Redstate.com said that a failure to appoint a special prosecutor, as he promised, would reveal the "very real fact that the candidate is not who he claimed to be".

HA! President-elect Trump is EXACTLY what candidate Trump was: a double-talking idiot. I shed not a tear for poor, poor Redstate.

Yes, really. I think that is the right thing to do. I'm sure Don the Con feels the same way because it gives him freedom to scout for his next wife. :) :p

Be careful what you promise.

On the campaign trail, Trump had pledged to withdraw the United States from the Paris climate accords -- a move that would upend global efforts to address global warming.

Tuesday, he wasn't as specific.

"I'm looking at it very closely. I have an open mind to it," he said.

Expect them to put up with it and worship the man for at least another eight years. People like him can do almost anything and get away with it. This could range from good to catastrophic, depending largely on how he uses his enormously flexible position. He could, for instance, disavow climate change and push for massive exploitation of shale oil, while at the same time giving money to making oil irrelevant in the not too distant future. We actually have the base technology for that already, it needs scaling up and investment, which is a whole lot easier and certain.

Somewhere in the library at Don Towers I have a copy of Team of Rivals which describes how Abraham Lincoln was able to assemble a cabinet of exceptional men, several of whom had been political rivals in order to save the Union at its time of need.

The usual suspects now seem to be circling around Donald Trump to produce the polar opposite. The latest is General David Patraeus who says he is willing to serve in the Trump administration.

Lest we forget, this is the kind of "talent" that is flocking to the Trump banner:

Gen Petraeus resigned as CIA director in 2012 following an extramarital affair with his biographer.

It later emerged he had shared classified material with her.

Email servers are a big issue but sharing classified material with the woman with which you're having an affair is no big deal any more

Many of the people who were mindlessly chanting "lock her up" or those who were deriding "libs" for being taken in by the Chinese GW hoax are in trouble. They've been shouting, you lost crybabies. Wake up and smell the coffee, and stuff like that. But they're the ones going to be laughed at if Trump backtracks. They're going to be laughed at as simpletons taken in by a conman. They're not going to like that, and millions of them are tooled up big time. So the following may be over optimistic on Trump's behalf.

The problem is the rest of the country is left with racist attacks on voting rights, boilerplate social conservative social policies and an economic plan that uses Kansas as a guide for the rest of the country.

Most of them aren't strong enough to overcome the cognitive dissonance that revelation will cause and will worship him even more. That is not to say some won't fall for him any more, but the majority will want him be named God-Emperor of USA for all eternity.
OK, that one is a bit of a hyperbole. The majority of these people will remain firmly convinced he's the best president since at least George Washington irrespective of what he does.

The good news is that these chanters are a minority of his supporters.

Trump should just tell his followers that he has done these things. On day one, announce that Hillary Clinton has been jailed. When the media show her walking around free, simply denounce it as mainstream media lies.

This worked for him during the campaign. Why wouldn't it work during the Presidency?

The auditions will probably start right after Inauguration Day. ;)

He also seems not to understand British politics. The windfarm decision was made by the Scottish Government. Farage has no input there at all. He's a Member of the European Parliament. I guess in theory an MEP has some influence with national parliaments, but in general I would suggest that he has, at best, some minor influence on the UK Government - not the Scottish Government. There is one Scottish MEP for UKIP, but he's a total muppet as well, so no real help.

UKIP are pretty unpopular in the UK in general - they only have one MP but do have some depressingly reasonable numbers at local council level.

They have no MSPs in Scotland, nor do they have any councillors in Local Government. They have no real presence in Scotland, and therefore have no ability to influence Donald Trump's wishes regarding windfarms.

(I'm sure Darat can correct me if I've messed any of that up :) )

The Don hasn't wasted much time exploiting the presidency for personal gain:
Reports emerged earlier Monday, for example, that Trump used a congratulatory call from Argentine President Mauricio Macri to seek the Argentine president’s help on a stalled building project in Buenos Aires. Separate media articles indicate that an Argentine development firm recently announced plans to build a massive office building in Buenos Aires bearing Trump’s name. Link

Not to worry:
Kellyanne Conway, Donald Trump’s former presidential campaign manager, defended the president-elect’s business practices on Monday, saying that she’s “very confident” he hasn’t done anything illegal during the presidential transition process.

Maybe because he's been too busy with all the transition nonsense? Give the poor guy a chance.
