Prediction thread: What will the U.S. gov't do that most resembles the Third Reich?

Getting back to the subject of the thread:
Sign a treaty with Russia to partition another country (in this case, the USA would only get access to regions with economically-viable rare earth deposits rather than having jurisdiction over the territory)?

The Maga/Nazis are wiping their asses with the Constitution, tanking the economy, arresting people for the crime of being brown, destroying public safety and causing the next pandemic to happen, but it's the Democrats that lack common sense? You wouldn't have voted for the Democrat because you think transgendered people are icky? Wow.
This does not convince me to go out and register as a Democrat. I think it is sad that we are becoming so far removed from World War 2 that we can trivialize the Holocaust.

My grandparents came down to the US in 1927 and were naturalized in 1940. Legally. I simply look at our border, and yours if you live in Thailand, the way I look at my own home. Why criticize those who want established law followed? Common sense.

I have no problem with men who want to become women. It is the invasion of girl's and women's places that I oppose. If you and others are interested, search 'warren smith john oliver 14 year old'. This girl should never have had to give this speech in the United States. We know a retired professor of biology. My wife would not let me ask him where his colleagues at the University of Pennsylvania were when a boy joined the girl's swim team. I pictured those professors cowering in their office corners or hiding under their desks. Again, common sense.

I apologize for taking attention from the thread. When I saw Third Reich, I thought of a commentator who said, prior to Trump's inauguration, that we were two days from normalizing fascism. Wonderful. Brilliant commentary.

Think about how many minutes or centuries modern humans will delay the onset of the next Ice Age.

At least 100,000 years so far. But the problem is not that human activity is delaying the next period of glaciation, it's that it is producing rapid and damaging warming.

There was a fascinating paper a few years ago by a team at Copenhagan University who calculated how long we could have held off the next glaciation if we had used fossil fuel solely for that purpose, i.e. if we had only started burning it when a period of glaciation was imminent, and burnt just enough to keep the temperature from dropping below what suits us. It came out at about half a million years. That's the next 10 or so glacial periods we could have prevented before we ran out of fossil fuel, and could no longer use it to cancel out the Milankovich cycles. But that is not what we are doing. We started burning through it when we were only about 6000 years past the peak of the current interglacial period, and by most estimates we have already got through nearly half of it in just a couple of centuries. So instead of just canceling out the existing underlying cooling trend of about 0.2C every thousand years, we have abruptly turned it into an underlying warming trend of about 0.2C every 15 years. Which is why we're buggered.

Regardless of my reasons for questioning the fear mongering about a warming planet, I do not deny climate any more than I deny continental drift or the Holocaust.

The correct term is climate change denier, not climate denier, though it is true that sometimes some people wrongly abbreviate it.

It is the fact that the Holocaust is such an important issue for many people when it comes to global warming and political philosophy.

The association of the term climate change denier with Holocaust denier was understandable, but it is not inherent. Both are simply accurate descriptions of similar choices to deny objective reality.

Let's see: Censor major social media outlets? Oh, wait, no, Biden-Harris did that. Weaponize the justice system to persecute political opponents? Uh, no, Biden-Harris did that. Refuse to do anything about hundreds of attacks on churches by their ideological allies? Nope, Biden-Harris did that. Try to kick religious groups off college campuses? Shucks, wrong again: Biden-Harris did that. Deny parents the right to know if their children are expressing an interest in gender transition at school? You guessed it: Biden-Harris did that. Try to change the law so that minors can get irreversible transgender surgery without their parents' consent? Darn, nope: Biden-Harris did that.

If any party has been pushing a fascist/totalitarian-like agenda, it has been the Democrat Party, not the GOP.

Was promoting transgenderism a big part of the Third Reich's plans?

What do you like about Donald Trump?

So, you are complicit. I see. Anne Frank would be proud of you......

The Thrid Reich suppressed protests. Trump is taking measures to do exactly that, starting with Universities and Colleges.
Yep. No fascist state allows protests that criticize the government or leader(s).

“All Federal Funding will STOP for any College, School, or University that allows illegal protests,” the US president wrote on Truth Social.

“Agitators will be imprisoned/or permanently sent back to the country from which they came. American students will be permanently expelled or, depending on on [sic] the crime, arrested. NO MASKS! Thank you for your attention to this matter.”
Trump did not specify what constitutes an “illegal” protest, but the threat comes just one day after his administration announced it would review and could pull more than $50m in government contracts from Columbia University over the school’s “ongoing inaction in the face of relentless harassment of Jewish students”.

The protests at Columbia last year over the bombardment of the Gaza Strip saw more than 100 students arrested and suspended. Last month, Barnard College, which is affiliated with Columbia, expelled two students who disrupted a class called the “History of Modern Israel”.

The government taskforce also said it would review more than $5bn in grant commitments to Columbia to “ensure the university is in compliance with federal regulations, including its civil rights responsibilities”.

Since the protests erupted on campuses last year, Republicans have frequently framed the demonstrations against Israel’s actions in Gaza as expressions of support for Hamas, and last fall, it was revealed that top Republicans threatened to pull billions of dollars of federal funding from some of the US’s most prestigious universities for allowing the protests on their campus.

If I had voted, I would have voted for Trump. And my reasons would have had nothing to do with Trump. For some reason, the Democratic Party decided to hand common sense over to the Republican Party. It would have been so easy to share common ground on our border and on biology.
The election may very well have turned out differently.
You call what is going on now common sense?????????

I guess Trump did not read that part of the consitution that guarantess the right to peacably assemble for redress of greviences.

If "investigating criminal acts performed by a former president" is "weaponizing the justice system to persecute political opponents," then that means no government can ever be held accountable for illegal acts performed by people in that government. That's an authoritarian government, not a republican or democratic government.

Refuse to do anything about hundreds of attacks on churches by their ideological allies? Nope, Biden-Harris did that.

This is certainly a Biden-Harris thing. It's intended to protect transgender or gender dysphoric youth when testing an alternate identity in a safe space, namely their school. I can see that causing problems at parent-teacher meetings where the teacher refers to "Brian" as "Brianna."

Try to change the law so that minors can get irreversible transgender surgery without their parents' consent? Darn, nope: Biden-Harris did that.
I'll need a citation that the attempted changes allowed minors to get transgender surgery without the parents' consent. My understanding is parents must be consulted and advised for any surgery until their child reaches their eighteenth birthday.

If any party has been pushing a fascist/totalitarian-like agenda, it has been the Democrat Party, not the GOP.

Trump on Truth Social today:
President Donald Trump said:
All federal funding will STOP for any College, School or University that allows illegal protests. Agitators will be imprisoned/or permanently sent back to the country from which they came. American students will be permanently expelled or, depending on the crime, arrested. NO MASKS!
Who's the fascist now? Whatever happened to free speech and the right to protest? People protesting a brutal war prosecuted by Israel does not mean they're anti-Semitic or anti-Jewish. I very strongly believe that Jews as an identity and a religion have a right to that identity and a right to practice their religion. However, I condemn the hard-right Israeli government practically flattening Gaza in response to what was admittedly a terrible terrorist attack. The toll? The terrorist attack killed 1,195 Israelis, a very high number. The response to date has killed 68,800 people in Gaza and the West Bank, and wounded hundreds of thousands more.

"If we make peaceful revolution impossible, we make violent revolution inevitable."

Interestingly, there is ample history demonstrating which side the Third Reich actually took in this particular struggle for a homeland based on blood and soil.

Assuming this thread is about those who would "do the Reich thing," in U.S. politics, the move here would be to support Hamas against their sworn enemies, whom they have vowed to eliminate completely from Dar al-Islam, making the region forever judenrein.

Nothing says "common sense" like letting children die from preventable diseases.

I do not deny climate change any more than I deny continental drift or the Holocaust. Regardless, denier is still used as character assassination, bullying and intimidation. We have not yet come up with a reason why trivializing the Holocaust is so easy for some and impossible for others.

So, you are complicit. I see. Anne Frank would be proud of you......
Complicit in what?

Those two issues may very well have made the difference. Protecting the borders and standing up for basic understanding of biology. I seriously doubt if anyone would have condemned the Democratic Party for siding with reasonable people about those issues.

You keep referring to the anti-vaccine, conspiracy theorist Republicans as the party of common sense and it won't ever stop being hilariously stupid.

Let's see: Censor major social media outlets? Oh, wait, no, Biden-Harris did that.
Huh?
Weaponize the justice system to persecute political opponents? Uh, no, Biden-Harris did that.
So no GOP allowed? Oh wait, still there. Trump in jail where he belongs? Let's see...
Refuse to do anything about hundreds of attacks on churches by their ideological allies? Nope, Biden-Harris did that.
Wha...?? Who shot up and killed people in churches?
Try to kick religious groups off college campuses? Shucks, wrong again: Biden-Harris did that.
WTAF are you blithering about?

Another lie.
